Access Control
Committee
The Access Control Committee has been tasked with addressing
the excessive speed problem in our community — it has been one
of several issues that ACC has focused on over the last several years.
The demographic data the committee has collected has determined
that there IS a speeding problem within our community. Now, with
this data available to us, and along with research from: ITE (https://
safety.fhwa.dot.gov/speedmgt/traffic_calm.cfm) and recommended
practice Guidelines for the Design and Application of "Speed Humps"
(speed humps are NOT speed bumps, these humps are low profile and
do not cause injury or damage to vehicles), the committee is moving
forward with this information and will make a recommendation
to the Board of Directors regarding using traffic calming "Speed
Humps" and proposed location(s) within our community.
As a result of this gathered information, the ACC met twice in
December. Our regular meeting was held via Zoom and we also
held a "golf cart field trip" to address possible speed hump locations,
based on ITE recommendations.
The ACC committee has been proactive, thoughtful and diligent
in collecting this data, and in proposing solutions to the speeding
problem.
The Access Control Committee meets the second Wednesday of
the month at 9 am. With the COVID-19 restrictions in place, our
committee has met either socially distanced in the Multipurpose
Room with masks or via Zoom.
