"With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" A special wrap-up message: As 2021 unfolds ahead, we are quite sure you are saying "good riddance!" to 2020. We are all hoping that the new year will eventually bring us a return to some sort of normalcy. It has been a long and devastating year. Many of us had trips to visit family and friends canceled, as well as holiday gatherings. For the first time in several years, Margie wasn't wrapped up in last minute details of providing Four Seasons with a wondrous New Year's Eve. Brenda was supposed to be in Florida enjoying time with her granddaughters, but here we are wearing masks, continually washing our hands and keeping a safe distance from others. Through it all, Team Sunshine has been here to help those in our community. We thank all of you for being that ray of sunshine we so gratefully share. Sadly, we have continued to experience many passings. Late November through December we had 11 more of our residents leave us. Jack Lape passed on Nov. 19. On Nov. 23 Fran Ledbetter passed after a lengthy illness. Thanksgiving evening, James Childs passed. The Hall family lost their husband and father, James, on Nov. 30. Virginia McCain passed on Dec. 9 and Rudolph Duplessis passed Dec. 14. Jeanne let us know that her neighbor Don Harper passed on Dec. 10. Arthur Lopez (wife Helene) passed away on Christmas Eve; Bill Bernatzke passed away on Christmas day, and Ame Olinger (husband Mike) passed on Dec. 13. We did have another passing, but the family has expressed their wish to keep this information private. We have also learned that Myrna Steiner recently died in Louisiana. Myrna and her husband Jack were Four Seasons residents. Jack passed away in early March and Myrna moved to Louisiana to be closer to family. Since the first of March we have been notified of 35 passings. Team Sunshine has reached out to each of these families. We feel sad that we have not been able to assist with celebrations of life. We do continue to offer what little support we can. We assist with placing a picture and bio at The Lodge and providing the beautiful tie purses for the widows. We thank the ladies on our Card and Phone teams for what they do. A special thank you to Judy Bailey for the purses. Such a wonderful gift. We also thank Marietta Ruppaner and her prayer team. Although they are unable to meet in person, they do pick up prayer requests from The Lodge and add those requests to their list. The virus numbers continue to spike. Indications are the current stay-at-home restrictions will remain in effect for quite some time. This continues to take a toll on all of us and, once again, we ask that you check on neighbors (by phone, of course) and let us know if you think a card or phone call from Sunshine would bring a bit of cheer. Our closing thoughts are simply this: take care of yourself; make each day special by remembering that this too will pass. We are all in this together. Life is full of surprises and serendipity. Being open to unexpected turns in the road is an important part of success. If you try to plan every step, you may miss those wonderful twists and turns. Just find your next adventure — do it well, enjoy it — and then, not now, think about what comes next. ~ Condoleezza Rice 20 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2021 | Team Sunshine Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, & time.
