18 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2021 | Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. The main function of the RV Club is to plan and go on wonderful trips as a group. Deciding a destination and making investigative visits to finalize the location, tours, activities, and dinners takes planning and organization. The club has a process whereby experienced wagon masters work with and train new wagon masters for this challenge. You would be amazed at the interesting things that traveling members enjoy as part of these trips. Most trips are planned a year or more in advance because of the high demand for RV accommodations, especially in today's COVID circumstances. There are also shorter, more casual "pop-up" trips that are planned without a wagon master. Should you have an idea or suggestion for a trip, now is the time to start getting organized and working with this year's VP of Trips, Fred Peppe. During October 2019, the RV Club members took a beautiful trip into Northern California and parts of Oregon. The photos included this month are from that trip, showing some of the picturesque locations visited. Jan Feintuch and Sandy Harvey are the two on the beautiful path at Crater Lake National Park. The people seated at the winery are Jack and Judy Stanley, Keith Thompson, Sharon Olsen, and Dennis and Lai Mei Strauss. Everyone is looking forward to more excellent trips like this one in the near future. For more information on all upcoming trips, visit the RV Club website and read the latest issue of The Open Road. In spite of the limits for gathering, Garden Club members worked together in 2020 to make a difference right here in OHCC. For instance: • We sponsored a socially distanced plant sale with plants received from the Clubhouse remodel. Proceeds were used to help the OHCC Safety & Emergency Response Team (SERT) purchase four new two-way radios. • We organized a safe, no-touch donation drive to collect toys, food, and donations to help the Woodchucks with their annual holiday drive for children and families at Camp Pendleton. The event was a great success due to energetic volunteers from both clubs, Securitas Patrol and Clubhouse staff — and an amazing and generous response from the OHCC community. • In November, several members got together on short notice to purchase flowers and design a beautiful wreath for the Veterans Day program held at Inspiration Hill. It was a wonderful opportunity to honor veterans & express our appreciation for their service. We are grateful to Garden Club members and the entire community for your support last year. As we plan for 2021, we want to invite new Garden Club members. Perhaps you recently moved to OHCC and are looking for ways to get acquainted and involved. We would love to have you join us (contact Ralene at (760) 610-3684). We hope that both current and new members will share ideas & expertise as we work together this year. The Garden Club Board will continue to meet virtually every month. Even though it appears we will be distancing for at least a while longer, we still hope to have our annual Garden Tour of OHCC homes. If not, we will go virtual on that and find other creative ways to share our love of gardening. We hope you will join us!
