46 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2021 | Lady Executive Golf Welcome to Lady Executive Golfers (LEGS)! We are a 9-hole club on the Executive Course. We play weekly on Tuesday mornings with mixed play, fun scrambles and a monthly tournament. In addition, we participate with other clubs for 18-hole tournaments and "away games" a few times during the year. Beginning Oct. 1, we meet at 8:30 am with a tee time at 9 am. The third Tuesday of each month is our monthly meeting and lunch ($10) at the South Clubhouse. Guests welcome! For lunch information, call Doreen Bryant, (909) 595-1974. You can read more about LEGS or check out our monthly newsletter at www.sunlakescc.com under "Golf." If you have questions and/or would like to join our club, please call Judy Jones, (858) 752-1383. We emphasize fun and socializing while striving to improve our game and become more familiar with the Rules of Golf. Join us! Lady Niners We are so fortunate to have our golf course available so we can get out and enjoy our beautiful scenery from the lush, green golf course to the snow-covered mountains. Hats off to the golf course maintenance crew for keeping the course in such great condition. Lady Niners play every Thursday with a variety of golf formats. Many of our members carry a GHIN handicap thus giving that member an opportunity to play tournaments from other clubs. Some of our competitive rounds are for Club Championship, Eclectic, a Member-Guest, or a Cup Day each month. If you are interested in learning more about the Lady Niners, please contact Priscilla at (951) 741- 7973. She can help you learn more about the club and help you get involved. At present, if you would like to sign up for a golf round for each week, call Terri (951) 591-2565 no later than Monday of the week in which you want to play. Teri will let you know of your pairing and your tee-time before Thursday. Lots of Irish "luck" during the month of March. Women's Golf Before moving on to March activities, here are a couple activities that took place in early February. Lifestyles articles are due one month in advance of publication. Many times significant events have taken place after the deadline – here are two we wanted to share. Marilyn Knowles (right), PAR Club chairperson, congratulates and presents Mary Wilkie with a bag tag medal for making a par on all 18 holes on the championship course. Mary completed this challenge on the last day of her eligibility. Only pars made on Women's Club day (Thursday or the first Saturday of the month) count toward this skills achievement. Congratulations Mary! An additional skills challenge is the weekly Closest To the Pin contest. Congratulations to our newest member, Suellen Jackson! March 4, we have a 9 am shotgun start. One of our favorite games will be played - Leprechaun Ball. Before teeing off the team captain will POP the scorecard. If you have any questions about how to POP your scorecard, please call Mo Farra, Handicap Director, at (714) 292- 4056. We encourage you to wear green and bring your good luck charms. The First Saturday game is Blind Nine – this game is always fun because you have no idea which nine holes will be selected to be used for your score. After play, the Pro Shop will post the nine holes that will make up your score. As usual, deduct ½ of your handicap. On March 11 Kari Steinwart will assign you to a team of four for Open Golf. March 18 is T's & S's. In this game you will circle and total scores for holes beginning with letters T and S – then deduct ½ of your handicap. We will continue to focus on timely separation when teeing off. The Pro Shop will call each waiting team to the tee box seven minutes after the team in front of them has teed off. It is beneficial to have the team on or near the green before the waiting team tees off. For those of you who are interested in becoming a member of the Women's Golf Club - call Jean Robison, Membership Director, at (559) 779-2674. Membership dues are $50 for 2021. Membership applications are on our website at www. sunlakescc.com or at the Pro Shop window. We are looking forward to another beautiful year of golf – Happy golfing!
