30 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2021 | Makua Hula Perla Williams, Instructor, and the ladies of Makua Hula wish you all a very Happy St. Patrick's Day! We are looking forward to Sun Lakes opening soon. We love performing for other clubs and private parties. Originally, created for ceremonies and rituals on the islands, hula dancing has become known as the heart and soul of Hawaii in motion. It is a great way to get in shape and have fun at the same time. Perla and the ladies do just that! We hope to see you soon. Aloha! Stay safe and healthy. Dancing is great exercise. Stardust Dancers need to practice at home what they were doing a year ago. We were working on a lot of new choreography and numbers for both Ladies and Gents. Routines that will be used, when we are able to have class, include the line dance, a fast Beach Boys number, and the Cha-Cha. Two new numbers are a new military for the Fourth of July and a partner 50s number. The Men's class will learn a Military Color Guard routine and all will beef up their modeling skills for future Fashion Shows. We must think positively. If anyone needs help remembering, give Instructor Evelyn a call. Stardust Dancers Jeann Svarvar's Tap Classes have been Zooming, but we wanted to show many of the new residents in Sun Lakes what to expect when Sun Lakes opens. For those who are willing to start at the bottom (with your feet) and learn "tapping with Jeann," or are somewhere in between, we hope to see you. She'll even get you on stage, if you want. She works hard with her students in order to bring them to a point where they are ready to perform, and inevitably brings it to fruition! With lots of laughter and fun on the way to the stage. The photo at right shows how Jeann choreographed this high energy dance number called "No Business, Like Show Business" with none other than the great Ethel Merman and the "Taptastics."
