| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2021 | 3 From the President By Sandra Moyer Before I go into February and March activities, I want to thank residents for their positive thoughts and prayers for our community. It is not only refreshing, but helpful to all in so many ways. February updates: 1. We posted all the dates related to upcoming Board elections. As of this writing, seven candidates took out their papers. There are three openings on the Board, so it is imperative that you become informed about these candidates background, experience, and the goals they wish to achieve if elected. Because of the COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, the Candidates Forum held on March 2, will be taped and shown on Good Day Sun Lakes website, as well as Channel 97. Please take the time to watch the Forum to help you make an informed choice. Four things you might want to consider, a) what has been the extent of their involvement in our community, b) do they attend Master Board is and District Delegate meetings, c) how informed are they with workings and management of Sun Lakes, d) finally, do they have a specific agenda, and if so, what is it? 2. Approved remodel of Pro Shop at cost of $17,774 which $12,183 was paid out of Reserves and $5,591 from Capital Funds. 3. Due to no activity in Main Clubhouse and Restaurant, critters like raccoons and vermin took up residence in the attic. Restoration Management Company and Orkin came in to remove critters and clean up the damage as well as remove all insulation to eliminate entry ports. Then the insulation will be replaced. The cost was $27,374. 4. Thanks to Cheri and her team's hard work on developing a well-received menu, introduction to Daily Specials, and monitoring staffing and food cost, the curbside and home delivery is continuing to succeed. Please be aware that the 15 percent gratuity was removed from home delivery. March – future projects: 1. Permanent heaters for Veranda 2. Opening Veranda for outside dining 3. Implementing the new POS system 4. Continue to try and assist Sun Lakers with receiving COVID-19 vaccine 5. Redesign of Gate 2 entry 6. Filming and showing the remodeled Bar and Pro Shop March 24 is my last open Board Meeting. It was a privilege and honor working with all the Board Members, District Delegates, Committees, and Management during my five years on the Board. I thank all the residents who have supported me and gave me the opportunity to serve you. Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant with the weak and wrong. Sometime in your life, you will have been all of these. ~ Author Unknown,
