Begora, Saint Patrick's Day is a great day to purchase a book to donate to our wonderful library. I think committee member, Char, is keeping Cameron Books open by herself. I encourage her to go shopping because as soon as she finishes reading her books they are donated for us! Well, after I read them. I believe most of you are aware we all write our newsletters a month in advance. Next week, the Library Committee will be allowed to meet together for the first time in months. I am hoping that very soon the library will be allowed to reopen for residents. We will limit three residents in the room at a time, plus the two committee volunteers. Safety remains our priority. When we are allowed to open we will go back to the schedule we had before the lock down — Tuesdays from 9 am to 12 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 12 pm. Yes, we had been open till 1 pm, but we were having zero residents visit during that last hour. Face masks and gloves are still required while visiting the library. If you have gloves please wear them when visiting. Committee members have purchased gloves for your use while there if you don't have any. We follow safety rules by having all books/puzzles quarantined for a minimum of three days before making them available to you. Our current displayed paperback books are 2016-2020. We may need to adjust to 2017-2021. Our paperback section is FULL! Our fiction hardbound books were displayed from 2010-2020. We now display them from 2011 to 2021 and may need to go to 2012 up. Not a complaint, keep them coming. We have a nice selection of non-fiction books under the paperbacks. You would be surprised at the great books available. We do not set dates for non-fiction. Take a moment to peruse that section. We do have a request; please take your very old, garage cleaning books, to Goodwill yourself. I worked in the library a couple of weeks ago and had ten very full bags of books that needed to be donated. Goodwill refused my donation because that was too many books. If you are taking one bag, or two, to donate, it won't be a problem. Thank you. Reading brings people into your life. Open that book! Until next month… Cookie I was delighted when Nita Staley sent me a couple of "thoughts to ponder," and am delighted to end the newsletter with a Thought from Nita: "I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the TV, I go into the other room and read a book." ~ Groucho Marx 14 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MARCH 2021 | Library Committee Facilities Committee The committee had an opening and Bill Johnson was appointed by the Board in January. Bill previously served on our committee for five to six years and is now back. Welcome back Bill! One item that is being completed are the lights on the pickleball court that will be replaced with LED lighting. The lighting will be much brighter for the players and eliminate the cool down period the previous lights experienced. While this is being done, bird deterrents will be added to the top of the light fixtures. We hope both projects will save on future maintenance and utility costs. Of the many projects that we are working on, one of the main ones is getting the outside of The Lodge, spa building, pool house, BBQ structure, gatehouses, and parking lot light poles painted. Another project under discussion is adding solar pole lights in some of the areas that are not well lit. In closing, if you see something that needs our attention, please fill out a Resident Communication form. Forms are available at the front desk in The Lodge. We regularly discuss and research options to appropriately address a resident's concerns for the benefit of the community. Our meetings are held the first and third Wednesday of each month at 9 am via Zoom. Any resident is welcome to attend our meetings and we have homeowner input at the beginning of each meeting. If you wish to join our meeting, please contact The Lodge office and they can forward the invite to you.
