New Club: The Great Courses Club
Golf Cart club
I never get tired of bragging about the "Flag Angels." In February, they put out
flags (all 1,300+ of them) for Presidents' Day. As I noted last month, I asked for a
volunteer to take over for one of the "angels." (Although in this case, I think that he is
more of a flag devil!) Well, Carrie Stevens stepped up right away. Thank you, Carrie
(put that Aztec to work). Once again, I would like to mention that Don Sims had to
hang up his wings; he is one of the original angels and has put out flags for over 15
years. Thank you, Don and Sharon for all your great work. We will continue to need
some volunteers to provide backup when one or more flag angels cannot perform
their duty on a particular day. If you can help with this popular and valuable service,
please call me at (951)-325-8757 or email at mikemcla43@aol.com.
Speaking of great work, Dave Habig manufactured those flag cans that you see
in front of yards with artificial grass or hard-scaped lawns. He made about 100
of them for the angels to use where the normal flags would not work. I am always
amazed by the talents of our residents. Thanks Dave! ~ Mike McLaughlin
Resident Don Krampe has received Board approval to create this
club. The Great Courses is a series of college-level video courses
produced and distributed by The Teaching Company, an American
company based in Chantilly, Virginia. It has over 700 courses in many
subjects: Economics, Food & Wine, Fitness, History, Literature, Fine
arts and more.
When restrictions are lifted and we are able to safely have a
meeting again, the first Video series presented will be The Federalist
Papers. It will be a six-week course showing two parts each week
with discussion to follow. If you have any questions please contact
Don Krampe at (951) 926-9005.
