Theatre Arts 12 | OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2021 | Your Theatre Arts Club has been busy in January and February, planning for the future. Hopefully, we will soon be able to receive Clubhouse room assignments and get back to life as "normal." For now, club members (more on that later) will be informed of any programming by email, as events are scheduled. All performances will be produced on Zoom until we can meet in the Clubhouse again. Theatre Arts stands shoulder-to-shoulder with (and six feet apart from) the staff and residents to keep each other healthy. Calling All New OHCC Residents: If you have an interest in the theatre (acting, reading, costumes, set design, audience, etc.), please consider joining the Theatre Arts Club. Contact Jean Hefler at jeanhefler@hotmail.com for more information. Director, Patricia Moran Collins, will produce a Zoom play reading in April, 2021. Auditions will be scheduled and notice given soon. Actors' Workshop and Readers' Theater have ceased gathering in public. They are, however, open for new members. For information, please contact Sally Benton by phone at (602) 228-7541 or email moki2@cox.net. MEMBERS ONLY! To start us off on a course that is somewhat "normal" for our members, we will offer a guest speaker via a virtual medium on Wed., Feb. 10. David Ellenstein, the Artistic Director from North Coast Repertory Theater, presented "Keeping Theatre Alive in the Age of Covid." If any of you has interest in local or national theater, this talk will be highly informative for anyone planning future theater outings. Our last virtual play reading was "The Leisure Set" and was very well received and enjoyed by over 50 of our members. If you missed the reading, please request a link from Anita Simon at asimonsays@ gmail.com and you can watch a recorded version in the comfort of your home. If you are interested in watching any of our current or future theatrical programs and other club offerings, you can become a member of Theatre Arts for only $10. If you know any new residents of OHCC, please let them know about our activities and how to share the joy of theater with them. Our next Board meeting is scheduled for March 18, via Zoom, at a time yet to be determined. The Board meetings are open to all members. If you want to attend, send Lois Powazek an email (loispow@cox.net) by the 16th so we can send you the Zoom link. Check your email inbox for details. General meetings are usually held the first Monday at 7 pm in Abravanel Hall. Please check your email for exact location, date and time. Only members will be informed of upcoming events, whether live or via Zoom. Join Theatre Arts so you can participate in all of our entertainment and activities. Your Board of Directors has voted to roll over 2020 paid dues to 2021. If you were NOT a member in 2020, please contact any of our Board members who will gladly accept membership checks. Check out our new and improved website, where you can read of our activities, and check out past and future productions. The address is http://www.ohccdg.wixsite.com/theatrearts.
