20 | OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2021 | We have to give a shout out to all of those artists that submitted their coloring page entries in February's publication. Kudos go to Sue Silva, Angie Babino, Yvonee Priest, Don Farmer, and Arnold Forman. Image Up Advertising & Design, creatively, put this contest together and the submissions were skillfully done. Thank you to our publisher, Image Up! Now, how many of you started to color a page and did not finish it? It takes patience and, right now, we all need a little patience. We are getting through this together, so grab a coloring book; it could become your next great adventure! The Broadcast Booth upgrade is coming along and the new equipment is being installed. Once the system install is complete, the AV Committee and volunteers will begin to train on the new cameras. The stage has been painted black, which minimizes the glare for the performers and for the production team. This will all be completed with safety in mind and adhering to the current COVID-19 guidelines. For new residents wanting to use the pool/spa, bocce and racquet courts, please contact the Clubhouse Front Desk at (760) 758-8772, so we can provide the "how to's" on scheduling those reservations. As a resident, the amenities are open to all. The Racquet and Bocce Clubs have been very helpful in providing scheduling for their membership. If you are not a club member, call the Front Desk and we can assist with making a reservation. The booking system link for the pool/spa is located on the community website under Recreation tab to Recreation Calendar. Booking will require an account to be set up with an email address. Reservations can be made only seven days in advance. The pool/spa usage hours have expanded. The last evening reservation can be made at 9 pm. It appears due to the colder weather, that the evening reservations have fallen off a bit. With Daylight Saving Time beginning Sun., March 14, we anticipate lighter and warmer days ahead. At this time, we have had no news regarding setting up a vaccine clinic here at OHCC. We are encouraging all eligible individuals to contact the various agencies that are providing them and make an appointment. If the vaccines should be made available to the membership, we will certainly inform the community. The annual Mardi Gras parades in greater New Orleans were canceled this year because of the pandemic but house floats (photo at left) kept the celebration alive. Cocktails were served, and king cakes consumed. It's a time for all of us to be creative. The OHCC Master Board just approved of a "Walk on the Golf Course Day," happening on Sun., April 4. The Recreation Department will look into some ideas to make the occasion more festive. Anyone interested in creating a "House Float?" Ok, not that creative? We will come up with something, maybe even a "Bunny Drive-By." See you on the course! Happy St. Patrick's Day!
