32 | OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2021 |
Golf is alive and well at Ocean Hills. We have jumped right into
2021. Both Men's and Ladies' weekly golf tournaments are going
strong. Our first Guys and Dolls tournament was Feb. 6 and the
turnout was terrific.
Ocean Hills isn't the only place where golf is seeing a resurgence.
Golf courses across the nation are seeing an increase in the number
of golfers and the demand for tee times surging. Many courses now
have limited our ability to book a tee time from the customary 14
days out to seven days in advance. If you have driven down the 78
freeway near El Camino recently and looked to the south you have
probably noticed the Carlsbad Golf Centers Driving range is full,
often times with people waiting for a spot to practice. The game of
golf is perfect for those of us who want to get outdoors with friends
and still keep healthy and safe during the pandemic.
If you haven't already signed up to be a member
of the Golf Club go the website (ohgc.net) and
download the membership form. Submit
it with your check for $5 per person.
There is a slot in the door of the Golf
Casa labeled "Membership." Being an
OHCC Golf Club member allows you
to participate in Men's Day, Ladies' Day,
Guys and Dolls, Touring Amateurs, Special
Tournaments, Niners, and Match play.
Our first Touring Amateurs golf tournament scheduled March 15,
is at Oaks North.
• Flyer will be posted on website (OHGC.net) and at the casa, mid-
Feb. Entry will open Feb. 25.
• "Touring Amateurs" are scramble format tournaments for OHGC
members, played at courses outside of Ocean Hills. There are eight
tournaments a year, March-June and Aug.-Nov. A variety of executive
courses and full size courses are played.
March 7, is the next Guys and Dolls tournament. This fills up fast
so put your team together and sign up to play. If you are a single
or looking for a team contact Marilyn Vetlesen at mavetlesen@
sbcglobal.net. She will try to pair you up with your new winning
team.
If you think the game of golf is difficult just ask these players
who made it look simple by getting a hole in one. Congratulations
to Heidi James (#17), Lynne Fuller (#16), Bill Crosby (#18), and
Kathleen Cannon (#8).
I will leave you with one final thought:

by the occasional miracle." Anonymous
