| OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2021 | 7 Golf Course Irrigation and Well Conversion By Don Lopez The final version of the Golf Course Renovation and Well Conversion contract was completed on Fri., Feb. 12, 2021. The final contract was presented to the Master Board for approval on the next business day, which was Tues., Feb. 16, 2021. The contract was approved by the Board at that meeting. That approval sets in motion the agreed upon process to start construction. The agreement calls for a meeting within 10 days of the execution of the contract between the parties to determine the construction schedule. After the schedule is determined, Candyl Golf will complete the Construction Documents. Those Construction Documents will take 60 days, plus another 30 days for approval of the lake design by the city of Oceanside. I stated in the February article that the construction could start in May, but that was predicated on finishing the contract in January which did not happen. We have to write these articles by the 15th of the month in order to be printed and distributed on the 1st of the month. If the required events don't happen as needed then the schedule needs to be re- stated. Therefore, the start of construction now should be in the May- June time frame. The Town Hall meeting and Capital Improvement election for the Well Conversion will take place shortly after this time frame. Now that the contract has been completed and executed, the pace will start to pick-up quickly for start of construction. We look forward to renovating the golf course to bring it up to the quality standard that was established in the mid-eighties when the front 9 holes of the course were built. It will be a great opportunity to bring the irrigation up to current standards to adequately cover the course uniformly. The back nine was originally a community park, but the irrigation was not changed when they altered it to serve as a golf course. After the irrigation is renovated we will have the coverage we need. We can then connect the new irrigation lines to our well and save a significant amount of money monthly. Perhaps even more importantly, the well can assure us of a water source, when and if, the water district restricts our water supply for irrigation. Thank you all for your support of this critical project. Cary Lee, CEO of Candyl Golf Group, Board President Greg Kusiak, and Board member Don Lopez, Chair of the Golf Course Irrigation Committee
