The California Stay-at-Home Order is still in place until further notice by the State of California Governor and individuals age 65 and older, or with chronic medical conditions, are at increased risk of effects of the COVID-19 virus. The Board has passed these temporary rules in order to allow residents to conditionally use a portion of the Association's amenities. With that stated, it is the Board's expectation that all residents will comply with these temporary rules. If any resident is found to be in non-compliance with any of these, or any other Association rules, the Board reserves the right to enforce said rules as it deems appropriate within its authority. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, cover coughs and sneezes, and avoid the area if you are experiencing symptoms of illness including a fever of 100°F or above, sore throat, runny nose, chills, not feeling well, sneezing, coughing, abdominal pain or diarrhea. By Ann Carter, Colony Aerobics Instructor/Personal Trainer If you have taken any of my exercise classes in the past five years, you will know that Wednesdays are always "joke day." I try to end each class with a joke, and if I forget, I WILL be called out on it! LOL! You may also know that I am all about health. I tell this weekly joke hoping that it not only gets a good laugh, but is retold and passes that laughter on. Granted, sometimes I screw the joke up so badly that that itself becomes a joke. So how do jokes (laughter) and health go together? Two researchers from Loma Linda University (Dr. Lee Berk and Dr. Stanley Tan) have been researching the benefits of laughter and came up with some surprising results. It lowers blood pressure! Even for those who start at normal levels, it reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes. It reduces stress hormone levels! It is helping your immune system and cutting your anxiety at the same time! Laughter improves cardiac health – it is literally a cardio workout! It works your ab muscles! Forget sit-ups — just watch a funny movie and laugh! It boosts your T-cells. T-cells are specialized immunity cells that, once activated, help in fighting off sickness. Chicken soup and a funny movie – who knew?! It triggers the release of endorphins. Endorphins are your body's natural painkillers and also ease chronic pain. I have heard of doctors who prescribe funny and cute YouTube videos to help ease chronic pain. It produces a general sense of well-being. Doctors have found that people who have a positive outlook on life tend to fight diseases better than people who tend to be more negative. So, smile, laugh and live longer! Now, I will end with a joke. A lady called her husband on his cell phone while he was driving. She said, "Herman, be careful! The news says there's a madman driving the wrong way on the 15 freeway!" Herman replies, "There's not just one! There are hundreds of them!" File of Life Program Laughter Truly Is One Of e Best Medicines!
