22 | THE COLONY NEWS | APRIL 2021 | By Kara Hardy, Activities Director; kara.hardy@associa.us KARA'S KORNER HOW TO SAVE ON YOUR HOME ENERGY, Wednesday, April 14, 10 am: The Energy Savings Assistance Program will share Energy Saving Services available at no cost. Services may include attic insulation, water heater blankets, door weather stripping, faucet aerators, caulking, low-flow shower heads, and more. We will cover the importance of staying energy efficient while saving money on utilities. We will discuss who is eligible and why the services are no cost. DEMENTIA & ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT GROUP, Thursday, April 8, 10 am: Presented by Kristi Necochea, this group educates and supports those who are caring for a loved one with a dementia diagnosis. We meet the second Thursday of each month. Attention Colony residents! The Vista Murrieta High School Student Senate is encouraging and participating in a pen pal program this year, and they are hoping to have as many participants in The Colony as possible. The Vista Senators are dedicated to writing and communicating with their pen pals once a week. If you are interested in taking part in this fun program, please contact Kara in the Activities Office. They would love to get to know as many of you as possible! Seeking Pen Pals ZOOM with us! Chair aerobics is really a misnomer as we are rarely sitting in the chair. If you would like to start getting in shape or just want to stay active and upright, come join us every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 9:45 am by the Pool Pavilion. All you need is a pair of weights (whatever size is comfortable for you), a ball (Dollar Tree has them for $1) and a stretch band. After many years, Ann raised her price from $1 to $2 a class, but it's still the best bargain in town! Come join the fun and camaraderie! Please wear a mask when you come (you may take it off while exercising), and we practice social distancing. CHAIR AEROBICS WATER AEROBICS Water Aerobics begins Friday, April 16 Classes are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm and the cost is $3 per class. Maximum class size is 30 participants. Participants will be admitted on a first- come, first-served basis. Face masks are required at all times before and after instruction. Personal fitness equipment will not be stored by the HOA. Lockers in the restrooms will be available. Contact Kara at Kara.Hardy@associa.us for login information
