| THE COLONY NEWS | APRIL 2021 | 29 Jack & Jill By Judy Lebovitz, 461-0065 Happy Spring! We just finished playing 3 Clubs and a Putter game. Always fun and challenging! Our weekly games are always fun. In April, our start times will be 8:00 am for April, May and June. We are looking forward to starting our lunch meetings monthly once the auditorium opens. Now that things are getting better and with getting vaccinated, we hope to be able to have our invitational tournament soon. We have a great group of women and have lots of fun events, so if you are interested in joining either the 18-hole group or the back nine group, please contact our Membership Chair, Maureen Herzberg at (951) 677-4717. Hope you are all keeping well and safe, and we hope to see you out on the links. Ladies Golf CLUB NEWS By Dennis Murphy, 461-0457 The weather cooperated to the utmost for February's tournament, with clear skies and a warm tournament closure. Twelve foursomes provided participants two first place positions in the "A & B Format" competition. Seems the first-place winners in both the flights had their teams in great position for their wins. When the tournament was over and the dust finally settled, the following posted winning positions for the contest: Winning Teams A Flight 1st 43.256 Mark Tamayo, Vicki Cornille, David and Donna MacLagan 2nd 46.264 Charles Craven, Paula Thompson, Joe Cwirka and Terry Knode 3rd 47.457 John and Anita Hoetker, David Stacy and Bonnie Hinman B Flight 1st 43.612 Bill and Susan Connelly, Dan and Sheryl Beamish 2nd 45.814 Sam Currie, Carol Winnard, Ken Kawamura and Sue Jordan 3rd 46.016 Del and Alyce Mitchum, Bob and Nancy Davidson Closest to the Pin # 5 Pat Byron – 22'7" / Bill Connelly – 2'11" #15 Barbara Crosdale – 20'10" / Mark Tamayo – 4'11" #16 Team #12 – John and Anita Hoetker, David Stacy and Bonnie Hinman – 11'8" DARWIN AWARD – Mark Tamayo: I, your Humble CEO/MC, after misplacing my Gap Wedge on the field of play, quizzing players arriving at the pro shop, losing a night's sleep trying to recall exactly where I mislaid my club, getting the call at 2:30 am, then visiting the spot at 7:15 the following morning, taking a picture of the tree at the location of the 16th hole and posting the location via NewsFlash with picture… Mr. Tamayo contacted me 24 hours after play ended to indicate that he had found my club the day before. My comment was, "Mark, you just about won the Grand Slam in one Jack and Jill event by adding the DARWIN." (First place in the A Flight, closest to the pin on #15 and now the DARWIN). What a guy! The next contest is set for April 8 and will be our most popular venue, "Pick Your Own Foursome." As with all Jack and Jill events, you DO NOT have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for the fun and friendly competition. See ya' on the links! Dan Beamish Vicki Cornille Susan Connelly Donna MacLagan Sheryl Beamish Mark Tamayo Bill Connelly David MacLagan A Flight Winners B Flight Winners
