| THE COLONY NEWS | APRIL 2021 | 3
By Tom Brackin, Director
As we put 2020 behind us and embrace 2021, it's time to be
grateful for what we have and what is yet to come. This includes
parties, game nights with friends, holiday celebrations with
family, etc. While the idea of returning to our favorite activities
is exciting, there are some matters that need to be addressed.
I think we can all agree that enforcement of The Colony's
rules and regulations, for lack of a better term, were a bit "lax"
during 2020. This is a friendly reminder that part of returning
to normal is the enforcement of these rules and regulations,
especially as it pertains to The Colony's traffic laws.
Speaking of rules and regulations, a great way to contribute
to The Colony is joining a committee, and there are many
committees from which to choose. Our Landscape Committee
is doing great things, and by the end of this year they will have
received approximately $500,000 in rebates from the Water
District for The Colony by replacing the grass with drought
tolerant plants. If landscaping isn't your cup of tea, you may be
interested in Architectural Control, Emergency Preparedness
or the Library. Joining a committee is also a great way to meet
other members of The Colony. For a full list of committees,
please reference The Colony News.
In the coming months, we will be having The Colony's yearly
election and there are going to be three openings available.
The Colony Board does a lot for the community, and I want to
encourage people to get out there and run. The Board needs
people who are not afraid to ask questions and will listen to the
concerns voiced by the community.
To quote the late President John F. Kennedy, "Ask not what
your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your
country." So, I would like to say to everyone: Ask not what The
Colony can do for you; ask what you can do for The Colony.
