"With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Ah, the month of April is marching in and we are, quite frankly, wondering if the calendar is confused. January, February and March are a blur. Team Sunshine continues behind the scenes with our usual support to this community. We are limited in our service due to the quarantine, but we are privileged to still be able to send cards, make calls, etc. We stress that keeping a positive outlook is a healthy endeavor. We are tasked to pass that on as much as we can, and it is a privilege to do so. Grab a Caring Connection Card at the front desk in The Lodge if you are not aware of Team Sunshine's services. Celebrations/Memorials: We made mention of longtime Four Seasons board member, Ken Pounders, who passed away very unexpectedly on Jan. 29. Ken served the Four Seasons community as a member of the Board of Directors beginning in 2009 and as Treasurer for 10 years. He and Chrissy have been very active members of our community. His photo and bio were posted in The Lodge. Just recently, we learned of the passing of Jim Hatcher, former President of the Board of Directors. Jim was a member of the Board for six years serving as Secretary, and Vice President as well as President. He and LaDean have been involved in many clubs and activities in Four Seasons. We send our condolences to LaDean, family and friends. Jim was well known for his great sense of humor and was much loved in this community. His photo and bio were placed in The Lodge. George Wood recently passed. We left messages for the family, but we've not received a return call. Jerry Jones passed on Feb. 4. Brenda spoke with his son Eric who very much appreciated our call and Marietta's adding his father to those of the prayer group. More recently, we were saddened to learn of the passing of Joyce Kerns, John Maykulsky and Charles "Chuck" Roberts. We have talked with Joyce's daughter, Kim, and received the information for posting at The Lodge. Co-Chair, Brenda, has been in contact with Pamela (John's wife) and Jeanne has also received the information necessary to place John's picture and bio in The Lodge. Brenda also spoke with Chuck's widow, Yraida, and the family asked that his picture and bio be displayed. All of the families expressed how much they appreciated the cards and calls received from Sunshine. Sometimes a bit of time needs to pass before a spouse or family member is ready to provide a picture for The Lodge, and this is the case with Mike Olinger. Although we talked back in December, he just recently contacted Jeanne and Ame's photo was posted in The Lodge. When we talk with a family we always ask if they would like us to notify our Prayer Team. Marietta and her prayer group have been wonderful in continuing to pray for the folks in our community. Even though they have not been able to meet for almost a year, they still obtain the requests left at The Lodge or in our emails and add them to their list. Team Sunshine finds it a difficult task to be in a position of reporting this kind of information to the community. Oftentimes, we are sharing information about close friends and the heartache we carry for those individuals who have lost a loved one. We are not always aware of all passings in Four Seasons. Our heartfelt condolences go out to those families who have the burden of a loss in their family that we are not aware of. We can't say it enough about how important it is to let us know if you have a neighbor or friend here in Four Seasons who may be struggling with the isolation. Let us know and we'll get the info to our Card and Phone teams. We often do receive feedback telling us how much a card or a phone call was appreciated. Prayer Requests: For those wishing prayer, a prayer request box has been provided in the Multipurpose Room for your convenience. If you have a request, prayer cards are provided. The cards are picked up weekly and your request will be filled. Closing Thoughts: "I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." ~ Christopher Reeve 18 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2021 | Team Sunshine With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning
