| OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2021 | 7 By Scott Lemieux, CPS Director This month's article will focus on the Emergency Monitoring System (EMS) within the community. The EMS system for those residents that have opted to utilize the capability is an integrated system that alerts Community Patrol Services (CPS) at the Front Gate that a resident is in need of help due to a medical emergency, fire or any other situation that requires emergency assistance. The process that takes place once a resident initiates the EMS via the panel on the wall inside of their home or via the EMS pendant is that the EMS Monitoring Station inside the Front Gate guardhouse alerts the CPS officers by way of an audible alarm. A CPS officer will verify the address that is presented on the Monitoring Station and direct an officer to proceed to that address. A CPS officer will call the number listed at the address to attempt to make phone contact to verify whether there is an actual emergency or if the EMS was accidentally initiated. If CPS is unable to reach the resident our protocol is to call 9-1-1 for assistance. The CPS officer that arrives at the residence where the alarm was received will attempt to make contact with the resident by knocking on the door and ringing the doorbell. If there is no answer then the officer will attempt to make entrance into the home by way of a lockbox (if available), unlocked door or unlocked window. If the CPS officer successfully makes entry they will locate and assist the resident and await paramedics/ firefighters. If the CPS officer is unable to make entry, he/she will stand-by to flag down and assist paramedics/firefighters accordingly. The EMS systems are maintained and inspected by CPS officer Daniel Duffield, who is the community's designated Alarm Technician. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions testing has been by resident request only or upon system corrective maintenance. When the COVID-19 threat level has been downgraded system testing will resume community wide on an appointment basis. If you have any questions regarding your EMS system please contact the Front Gate to schedule an appointment with Officer Duffield to assist you: Daniel.Duffield@securitasinc.com or (760) 758-7111 Ext. 254. Community Patrol Services Golf Course Irrigation and Well Conversion By Don Lopez When you read this article in the OHCC Living Magazine, renovation construction will have started on the golf course. The course closed March 22 when Candyl Golf, our golf course contractor, began work on the first four holes which included the putting green, chipping green, 1st and 9th holes. These should take about three weeks. When that is finished, Candyl will move on to the 2nd, 7th and 8th holes. When that begins, the back nine will be re-opened and will remain open until the completion of the front nine. A pathway to the 10th tee for both golfers pulling a cart and single rider golf carts will be provided. There will be a walkway for members to access the Bocce Ball and Pickleball Courts. We can still park golf carts in the Flag Court. As you know, the Well Conversion requires a Capital Improvement election while the Golf Course Renovation does not. That election for the Well Conversion will take place in late May. We will be providing information on the date for the Town Hall meeting and the election soon. The construction will be moving faster than we can relate in the OHCC Living Magazine, which is monthly so we will communicate progress in an additional, more timely format. We may be able to post a schedule on the website for more current updates. After all the years of positioning ourselves to renovate the golf course, it is finally time to bring our largest asset back to a great condition, creating a major draw to our community for many years to come. It will also be a source of great joy to our current golfers, and I rather suspect will attract some new ones from current residents. Thank you for all your support for this critical project.
