Village Vets
When the Navy holds its daylong stand-downs to address the
extreme ideologies that leaders have said infiltrates the military
ranks, sailors across the fleet will be required to reaffirm the oath
they took to the U.S. Constitution.
All Navy personnel, uniformed and civilian, will have to repeat
the oath of enlistment or office and discuss what actions betray that
promise during the virtual or in-person learning sessions that must
be held by April 6. Perhaps this would be a good idea if members of
Congress were made to repeat their oath of office.
On March 2, some of our Village Vets attended the 1st Air Naval
Gunfire Liaison Company's 70th year birthday celebration at Camp
Pendleton. The guest speaker was Retired SgtMaj Reginald Owen, a
past member of the ANGLICO and currently an Associate Professor
at Palomar Community College. Refreshments were served in their
"Eagle's Nest," a recreation facility that various Ocean Hill's members
helped to rebuild last year. In the photo you can see the mural painted
by resident artists from OHCC who donated their time and talents.
We are so fortunate Sandee Lang has accepted the position of
OHCC Village Vet's Club Secretary. Sandee has experience in this
position at other clubs.
Treasurer, Bob Smith has set up a special box inside his front
gate at 5059 Dassia Way for 2021 dues. As you may be aware, we
continue to provide support to our military friends even during these
difficult times. Our dues are $10 per person. Please include your
phone number or email on your check so we can contact you for any
additional information, and mark it "2021 dues."
We intend on keeping members informed with our monthly Bugle
publication both online and delivered to them.
