Racquet Club March certainly put a spring in our step when doubles play resumed for Paddle Tennis and Pickleball. The modified guidelines from the California Department of Public Health for Play regarding outdoor moderate-contact sports in less restricted tiers was welcomed news, and when the San Diego County COVID case rate dropped below 14 cases per 100,000, resumption of doubles was declared by the HOA. Of course, players continue to follow all published COVID guidelines, reopening rules, and HOA-mandated protocols. In fact, we had a double dose of good news in March when Clubhouse Courts 1, 2, 3 had a soft opening two weeks ahead of the Phase One schedule. While awaiting the arrival and installation of windscreens which were still two weeks out, the lighted courts were reopened, allowing play to continue until 8 pm. As Phase One finishes, work quickly transitioned to Phase Two. With so many changes, the Racquet Club board is diligently communicating to keep members informed. Stay in the know by checking your email for updates which are also posted on the club website, and postings on the court bulletin boards. You can find the present playing rules and restrictions on the website at https:// ohccracquetclub.wixsite.com/racquet, under the COVID tab. The amazing transformation that began in January and finishes in spring means we all will have premier sport court facilities right here in our own backyard. Phase Two renovation covers the HOA Courts and T3/T4. The project timeline and photos are on the website - keep up with the latest by visiting https://ohccracquetclub.wixsite. com/racquet, hover over the home tab and select Court Renovation Project. Splitting their time between California and Arizona, the Tongs take their pickleball game with them wherever they roam. Newcomer Casey Shoenhard is quick study on the pickleball court and looking for more matches. We also welcomed Lynn and Marvin Wheeler and Howard Laurence to the club. Keep them in mind as you are setting up your matches. Water Volleyball is not yet afloat, awaiting further progress on COVID-tier restrictions. We welcome your feedback, send an email to ohrchelp@gmail. com or talk to a board member. | OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2021 | 37 Double the fun.
