April is in the world again, and all the world is filled with flowers… waiting for the April showers… Well, as you can see by the "after" photo, Lot A now has been landscaped with plants, mulch, trees, and flowers. Inside of the Canine Corral fencing, you can now see decomposed granite instead of weeds, rocks, stickers and thorns! The end result is a much more attractive area and a safer surface to walk on. There will still be a need for ongoing pest control with those stubborn gophers and pesky ants, but luckily the decomposed granite seems to be able to hold up to these displaced residents. Once the ground was prepared, the Canine Corral Council got busy creating the long-awaited off-leash area and preparing for the opening. The new metal gate has been custom fabricated and installed with our new Trilogy lock system mounted to allow fob access for the Corral members. The Doggie Waste Stations are ready to be installed (by the time of this writing the plan is in place). Straw wattle rolls have been installed along the sides and bottom of the Corral fencing to help curb erosion. Honor plaques are being mounted on the fencing to show off the beautiful dedications designed by very generous and creative sponsors. Don't despair if you have not participated in the fundraising yet! Honor Plaques will be available to order on an ongoing basis. Even after we have opened, there will be plenty of space available for your plaque. By the time of this publication, we may still have tickets available for our $500 Honor Plaque drawing. Check at The Lodge front desk to purchase your tickets for $10 each. (we will be drawing the winner after 50 tickets are sold). If sponsoring an Honor Plaque or Honor Bench is not for you, then we also appreciate donations of any amount. All checks will be accepted at the Management Office made out to our account: "Four Seasons HOA," memo: "Canine Corral." Every dollar will help. Thank you! Membership: How can you and your dog use the Canine Corral? Since this facility may only be used by qualified, approved members, monthly HOA fees do not contribute to the Canine Corral. Membership applications are available at The Lodge. Only resident members, and their approved dogs, will be using the Corral in order to ensure that our mission of "establishing a clean, safe environment; respectful of neighbors, and amenable to dog owners and non- dog owners alike" will be adhered to. All dogs must be current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and covered under their owner's liability insurance, and the human members must be current residents in good-standing. Fees from membership applications include a special Canine Corral dog tag and a gate key fob for each human member. The application fee for the first year of membership is $100 per dog. The annual membership renewal fee is $30 per dog. This includes a new dog tag with a different color. (Such a deal compared to the ARC application fee of $125. And it is so much more fun!) We have been receiving so much encouragement from residents who have been looking forward to the opening of the off-leash area dog park, as well as from residents who love the idea - even if they don't have a dog! I have heard from people who chose to purchase their home here because they heard there would be a dog park. Other people are happy we are creating the facility because they know how these amenities increase the value of homes in HOAs that offer a place for homeowners to meet and socialize and allow their dogs to be dogs. If you are interested in attending our seminars (which are required for members) to learn more about the Corral, all sessions are open for audit. If you are interested in attending, Zoom log-in information will be available in the Daily Report. This is such a great opportunity for the dog owners in this community. Let's all help to make it happen. You can still order plaques from Teri: teridimarino@gmail.com. Why not contact her today? (To review the history of the Canine Corral, especially for residents new to Four Seasons, please read the January article to get caught up to where we are today.) The Council meets the first and third Thursday of each month at 10am on Zoom, and we have space for more Council members. ~ Sandra Butler-Roberts, sandirae@ icloud.com FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2021 23 Canine Corral Council After ...
