12 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2021 BARON (BARRY) GINNETTI "Giving back, making a contribution, and doing something valuable with my energy" are a few of the reasons that Barry Ginnetti gave when asked why he wanted to be a member of the Board of Directors of Four Seasons Beaumont. "Now that KHOV is no longer involved, we have assumed full responsibility for the operation of our HOA. It is of utmost significance to me that the facilities, grounds, and amenities remain the same as they are or better. I imagine that all homeowners feel the same way." Barry stresses that the Board must think strategically, not just take care of things as they happen. "This is not a 'day in, day out' business and we must look ahead. We have to look at where we're going and ensure that our common property and our financial health are maintained. And the Board must 'look beyond the Board packet.' Maintaining and improving our property and operating the Association as a business means that we must practice good principles. It also means that newer, perhaps younger residents must be urged to join in, and that we mentor them. They should be encouraged to join committees so that they can learn from us and we can learn from them. We need their knowledge and abilities which may be different from ours. I am not afraid of working with people who may be smarter or more qualified than I am. "It is mandatory that the Board has a plan and that the plan is communicated. Transparency is vital to the Association, and transparency cannot be achieved without good communication. It is extremely important that homeowners feel included and that they have a good grasp of the goals of the Board. To that end, it is most important that different ways of communication are tried. For instance, we could initiate focus groups which engender interest and communication. New ideas can be brought up and discussed. In a focus group it is easy to look at what we are doing now, and how to change or improve it." Barry was very specific in his written Candidate Statement. He delineated his commitment to the Four Seasons community by saying in part, "We have a premier property and a responsibility to manage to the expected high standards of our owners." He also stated that he would do his part to "ensure fiduciary responsibility for all decisions involving the spending of HOA fees. We currently have an operating budget of over $5M and reserves of $8M. These funds are the contribution of all homeowners and should be utilized judiciously to provide optimum return for our spending." And the concept he stressed during our interview: "Success will depend on how Four Seasons will look in the future to meet the interest and culture of the next generation of home buyers. Do we meet their needs which may not match our needs of today? In addition to the short-term needs of the day-to-day operation, we need to take a long- range look at the community's needs." Barry brings his experience and his skill sets to his effort to become a Board of Directors member. For 21 years he worked in sales, marketing, and business development for a major pharmaceutical company. And for 19 years he was the owner of a strategic planning company, working with pharmaceutical companies. He is a retired U.S. Army Colonel with 30 years active and reserve duty. His HOA experience includes being a member of the Board of Trustees and President of the Board of Directors for 15 years of a high rise, ocean front property in New Jersey where he was an owner. And he is the Chairperson of the Four Seasons Beaumont Finance Committee where he has streamlined and implemented numerous business practices. And finally, he has experience as the Treasurer of the City of Beaumont. Barry has one final comment. "I ask for your vote to represent you as a member of our Board of Directors."
