Our goal is to have all active Advisory Committees share their news here each month. Thank you in advance for everyone's participation! Library Advisory Master Architectural Advisory The Main Clubhouse and North Clubhouse libraries are closed due to COVID. We hope to be open soon and announcements will be made on the website, by email, and on our Facebook pages. The South Clubhouse is open now with books and they may be returned there. Puzzles and audio books only are available on the front patio of 5354 W. Pinehurst; books have been moved to the South Clubhouse. Please do not leave boxes or bags of old books and magazines at either location. Fiction or biographies published 2011 or later may be dropped in the South Clubhouse return bin or shelved. Call (951) 267-3650 with any questions or concerns. Residents interested in serving on the Library Advisory Committee or shelving books for one half to one hour once a week, or as a substitute shelver when the libraries reopen, please call the above number or fill out a volunteer interest form at the Main Clubhouse reception desk. PAINTING YOUR HOUSE: On the Sun Lakes website guidelines for painting your house are located in the Planning and Compliance section. There you will find the Paint Palette and can download the, "Home Improvement (Paint) Application Form." This application must be submitted and approved by the Master Architectural Committee prior to the painting of the exterior of the home. Be aware, only the registered homeowner of a property may sign an application for review and no painting may begin until a homeowners application has been approved and a permit card has been issued. A final note: Wood trim surfaces are to be painted every four years and stucco surfaces are to be painted every 16 years as required per Article VII, Section 7.22, of the Architectural Standards and Guidelines. Wrought iron must be painted black or to match the trim and/or stucco of the home. ~ David Marshall Kealy, Chairman Communications Advisory The Veranda IS OPEN for dining! Hope everyone is taking full advantage of our on-property restaurant and going over for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The Advisory Committee welcomed two new members this month, Diane Patrick and Larry Hahn. This gives us our full roster of 7 members and we're all very excited to start working again on helping the restaurant prosper. One of the areas that we are exploring is our niche. What is our focus? What's our appeal? What do the residents want? What will increase the allure of our restaurant and lounge when it's finally open? In order to best serve the majority of our residents, this seems a good place to start. So, I ask you – what do you think? If you have ideas or suggestions, please contact the chairperson of this Advisory committee at barsimmons@hotmail.com or any of the other committee members you may know. Sun Lakes thrives on social gatherings, and what better place to socialize than on the Veranda over lunch, a glass of wine, or dinner? Just like Punxsutawney Phil, it's time to come out of hibernation and enjoy the beginnings of spring and the Sun Lakes social scene – on the Veranda restaurant! Restaurant & Lounge Advisory The CAC is working on identifying and prioritizing future video projects to highlight various areas of our Community. The Channel 97 team was able to implement a new feature into programming: a news banner, or crawl. We will update it daily with our Restaurant specials, and important news of the day. We were pleased to produce the Master Board Candidates Forum live on Channel 97 and plan to continue to air important meetings live in the future, even after we return to "normal."
