| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2021 | 27 The Sun Lakes Playhouse is excited about what we see on the horizon for our members and any Sun Lakes resident who enjoys watching and/or participating in theater, singing, dancing, and any performing arts. As mentioned in last month's article, we are preparing a one-hour variety show to be shown on Channel 97. Please contact Martie Steggell if you have a performance-ready act. We are happy to announce that Mary Flynn will be offering acting lessons for anyone interested in learning more about performing. Lessons will be a five-week course, one day per week for two hours. Fees and timing will be announced when a venue is available for the lessons. Please contact Mary at MFLynn2006@ msn.com if interested. When things open up at Sun Lakes, future club activities will include a Mystery Dinner Theater (auditions in July for an October performance) and hopefully an opportunity to perform Children's theater at local elementary and high schools. Our secretary, Sue Dunn, is leaving Sun Lakes. Sue has been a vital and fun loving member of the playhouse and will be greatly missed. George Meldrum is temporarily filling in as Secretary but would be happy to train anyone of our members willing to take on this task. We are also looking for anyone who currently has experience in, or is interested in learning the sound and lighting boards for our events. Are you interested in joining a group of fun people who love performing? We welcome those interested in singing, dancing, comedians, directing, being stage and house managers and many other backstage activities. If this appeals to you, consider joining the Playhouse. We are a happy group of people who enjoy all types of performances, stagecraft and behind the scenes opportunities. We would love to have you join us! Keep up to date with the happenings by tuning into the Sun Lakes Playhouse website. For membership information, contact Martie Steggell at (951) 769-3217. Sun Lakes Follies Spring is here and so is our Bill Shova! What can we say? Bill is our Master of Magic, Stage and Set Wizard, Mr. Song Meister, Master of Ceremony (MC) and our "all-around-go-to guy." We are extremely fortunate to have Bill as part of the "Sun Lakes Follies." Hopefully, Sun Lakes will be opening soon and we can get the show on the road. We'll definitely keep you posted. Until then, stay safe and healthy. Chorale The Chorale looks forward to meeting again this year. As soon as possible, we hope to have a "How the Heck Have You Been" party as a reunion for our membership. We are also hoping to start up again in September for our annual Holiday Concert. To maintain our connection as a Chorale family, we meet via Zoom every Monday morning at 9:30 am. We sing together and talk to our friends. Interested residents are welcome to join us. We have room for 100 guests. We join each other in friendship and sing songs together. For more information, contact Chorale Director Mark Faber at (951) 797-0120 or dmfaber@me.com, or Secretary Linda Vieira at (951) 797-0315 or lvieira@eltree.com. Do you like to sing? Join our Barbershop Chorus! Sheet music and learning materials are furnished to help even the novice enjoy the experience. You can sing in this men's chorus or enjoy a quartet experience with three other guys. We all have a song in our hearts waiting to come out. When facilities open, we'll let you know our meeting times and days. For more information contact Jim Langford at (951) 769-6065. Barbershop Chorus
