30 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2021 | Makua Hula Makua Hula ladies were invited by "That's Entertainment" to cruise the Pacific in 2019, obviously before COVID, and entertain at the Main Clubhouse for the show "Escape to Paradise." The group danced to "White Sandy Beach," Perla & Gaylord's performance of "Hawaiian Wedding Song" and of course, "Blue Hawaii." My, my what memories. Well, entertainment will be coming back to the Main Clubhouse. It would be great if we could all go on a cruise, even if it's only here in Sun Lakes. Makua Hula Hawaiian Dancers are looking forward to having Sun Lakes open soon! Int'l Culture Club The word "April" is derived from the Latin word aperire, which means to open. April also heralds the beginning of beautiful weather with longer, sunnier days and spring flowers making their appearance. As more people here and around the world are vaccinated, we can hopefully look forward to a gradual reopening of events and activities much like spring awakens after a long winter. ICC meets each month for a dinner and dance with live music to celebrate a particular theme. Monthly themes include St. Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, Fourth of July, the '60s, Cinco de Mayo, Halloween, and other major holidays. If you were a member in 2020, your membership has been carried over into 2021. ICC is currently accepting new members and membership dues are $25 pp. If you would like to know more about the International Culture Club, contact President Evelyn Hawkins at (951) 845-7199 or Membership Chairperson, Betty Beidelman, at (951) 769-6200.
