34 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2021 |
Happy spring! The grass is green and the flowers
are blooming… It's wonderful! It's beautiful! I
hope those of you who choose to get the COVID
vaccine have gotten it by now and feel a little more
comfortable to enjoy life, but don't forget we still
need to wear our masks. As of this writing, I have
gotten my second dose vaccine and plan on seeing
my granddaughter who I have not seen for quite
some time. I hope we will be able to resume our
in person meetings and our entertainment and fun
with your loved ones in the Arts & Crafts Room
soon.
The next Zoom meeting will be on Thurs., April
15 at 10 am. Members will be notified of the details
by an email a few days prior to the meeting. The
Zoom meetings have been very successful. If
anyone needs help setting up for Zoom, contact
Diane and she will get you going. If you have not
participated in Zoom, you are missing out. Give it
a try.
If you have any questions, would like to learn
more about Memory Loss, or would like reading
materials that we can loan you, call Diane at (951)
769-0130, Doug at (360) 840-5559 or Anne at (951)
845-8700. Remember we are here to help.
I am always open to new things when it comes
to Dementia. I saw this article in Prevention
magazine and thought I would share it with you.
New Ways To Treat Dementia
Dementia isn't a one-size–fits–all
disease, but for certain people suffering
from it, non-pharmacological approaches
such as spending time outside can be
effective treatments-and are in some
cases better than drugs. A new review
of studies involving more than 23,000
dementia patients found that engaging
in outdoor activities was more
clinically effective than taking anti-
psychotic medication among patients
with physical aggression, and those
with physical agitation benefited from
massage and touch therapy. Researchers
say that while treatment should continue
to be tailored to individuals, doctors should
consider trying alternative interventions
when appropriate.
