| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2021 | 43 Hello fellow campers. As always, I hope this article finds you all doing well and staying healthy. Go away COVID-19. Well, when our club is doing its normal thing, going on fabulous trips, writing becomes easy. However, this past year has been tough on all of us, to say the least. So, my brain has come up with the following for the month of April. I'm sure in many of your adventures, you have made RVing at our national parks part of your history. When my very young brain thinks about national parks, I always think about what is called the Big 5 National Parks in Utah. For those of you who have been to all or some of them, you know what I'm talking about. Right? For those who have not visited any of them, you don't know what you're missing. WEEELLL, how many of you have visited any of the following. Unique U.S. National Parks That Will Make You Feel Like You're On Another Planet 1. WHITE SANDS NATIONAL MONUMENT, NEW MEXICO. Home of the largest area of gypsum sand dunes. 2. GREAT SAND DUNES NATIONAL PARK, COLORADO. From some angles, you'd swear you're in the middle of the Sahara. 3. MAMMOTH CAVE NATIONAL PARK, KENTUCKY. Longest known cave system in the world, about 400 miles. 4. DRY TORTUGAS NATIONAL PARK, FLORIDA. The only way to get here is via boat or seaplane. 5. HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, HAWAII. Two of world's most active volcanoes. Even has a hotel "close by." 6. PETRIFIED FOREST NATIONAL PARK, ARIZONA. Ancient forest, ancient rocks. But don't take any; there are hefty fines if caught. 7. CRATERS OF THE MOON NATIONAL MONUMENT & PARK, IDAHO. Probably the closet you'll get to the moon. I can't claim credit for digging up all this great information. I obtain it from a website called Travel Leisure. I would like to finish by wishing the following Sun Lakes RV Club members a great and Happy Birthday: Mel Ocampo, Sally White, Jim Caldwell, Don Day, Jim Ball, and Jim Deans. Vaccinations are here so it's a whole new ball game to stay safe and be well! Hope you are all getting yours when available to you. Even after things reopen, which may very well still be months away, we will probably be one of the last clubs to reconvene. It's hard to believe it's been a year now. I do hope we can find a new normal that we can live with but God only knows how long that will take. 80s Plus Club
