46 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2021 | We are playing every Sunday and adhering to the COVID-19 mandates. Although things are a little different, the game remains the same, and we are enjoying getting out of the house and doing something. Why don't you come and join us? In today's world, what can be better than being outside in the clean air and social distancing with your friends? Give me, George Moyer (951) 769-7922, or Mary Wilkie (909) 280-1451 a call. We welcome new members. Couples Golf Lady Executive Golf Welcome to Lady Executive Golfers (LEGS)! We are a 9-hole club on the Executive Course. We play weekly on Tuesday mornings with mixed play, fun scrambles and a monthly tournament. In addition, we participate with other clubs for 18-hole tournaments and "away games" a few times during the year. Beginning Oct. 1, we meet at 8:30 am with a tee time at 9 am. The third Tuesday of each month is our monthly meeting and lunch ($10) at the South Clubhouse. Guests welcome! For lunch information, call Doreen Bryant, (909) 595-1974. You can read more about LEGS or check out our monthly newsletter at www.sunlakescc.com under "Golf." If you have questions and/or would like to join our club, please call Judy Jones, (858) 752-1383. We emphasize fun and socializing while striving to improve our game and become more familiar with the Rules of Golf. Join us! Lady Niners With most of us getting our COVID-19 shots, things are beginning to open up for more activities. The weather is warming up and the clocks have adjusted for the time change, which means we will enjoy extra play on the golf course. It is beginning to sound like lots of fun ahead. Hopefully this means that the Lady Niners will be able to have our Member/Guest Tournament in April, which is always lots of fun. Lady Niners play every Thursday. Many of our members carry a GHIN (Golf Handicap Information Network) handicap which gives them the opportunity to play in other golfing events. We enjoy several various golfing formats such as Cup day, Eclectic, Club Championship, scrambles, fun rounds, etc. Our tournament chairman sees that we have a great time each week. At present, if you would like to sign up for a golf round for each week, call Teri (951) 591-2565 no later than Monday of the week in which you want to play. She will let you know of your pairing and your tee- time before Thursday. If you have just moved into Sun Lakes and would like to get started with a golfing group, please contact Priscilla at (951) 741- 7973. She will be able to answer any questions that you might have and perhaps she can get you started on establishing new golfing friends at Sun Lakes. Don't delay in getting started. Have a wonderful, joyous Easter! Women's Golf The Women's Golf Club welcomed spring 2021 with the hope that we would have warmer and less windy weather this month. Golfing during the windstorms has been challenging. In April, we look forward to five Thursdays of Club golf. We anticipate that we may once again (fingers crossed) be able to hold our first Thursday luncheon/general meeting. Our plan looks like the luncheon will be on the Veranda, with each individual ordering her own lunch. Communications since March 2020 have been via emails and not being able to discuss golf topics in person has been missed. Jean Robison, Membership Director, accepted two applications for membership this month. We welcome first-time member, Marilyn Woodard, to our Club. We are excited that Sherri Little is once again a member. Sherri and her husband moved away about two years ago, but they missed their friends and the Sun Lakes lifestyle and are here again to enjoy the good life of our beautiful community and the golf course. Welcome ladies. We are pleased that you will be golfing with us soon. Our first game in April will be a team game – a Scramble. Members will sign up and be paired in a foursome. April 8 and again on the 15, our popular Buddy/Buddy games will take place. It's a two-person team. They will keep the same partner for both dates. They will Pop their scorecard and use the best net score of partners for each hole and total for the team score. On the second day of the game, they may improve their score on each hole (like a two-person eclectic). They will take the best net score on each hole over the two days for the total team score. Buddies' handicaps must be within 10 strokes of each other. April 22, they are playing a game that hasn't been played in the last few years. The game, Variable Team, also requires the scorecard to be Popped. They will use the one best net ball on all par 5s, two best net balls on all par 4s, and three best net balls on all par 3s. To keep the game moving, participants may pick up their ball whenever it isn't going to be used for scoring. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Women's Golf Club, please call Jean Robison, Membership Director at (559) 779- 2674.
