Young at Heart Young At Heart is planning a fun "Cinco de Mayo" golf tournament. Members will be receiving details via email. We will be scheduling more activities to allow our members to safely come together for the kind of fun and camaraderie for which our events are famous. Our "Love is Blind" golf tournament in February drew 48 participants who were required to wear blindfolds while putting on two designated holes, and while hitting tee shots on two other holes. All enjoyed Champagne and strawberries at the turn thanks to volunteers Shannon McKinney, Theresa Van Haren, and Sandy Richman. The winning team was made up of Bob and Michele Walter and Steve and Sally Jo Schwartz. Second place went to Jeff Van Haren, Dennis McKinney, Fred Richman, and Michael Stone. Finishing third was the team of Gino De Monaco, Candi Christopher, and John and Judy Jones. The team of Mike Rhine, Kody Papadato, and Paul and Ann Delisi finished fourth, and fifth place went to Ray and LaWanda Roberson and Henry and Eileen Zulkowski. For questions, or to join Young at Heart, call Michele Walter at (951) 202-8009. Annual dues for new members are still just $10. Oh my gosh! Are you as bored as we are? Yes! It's been over a year since we've been together; hopefully that will change in the near future. We hope that you are getting your shots, keeping your distances, washing your hands, and of course, wearing your mask. There are some very creative masks that put a smile on our faces (even if no one can see them). And remember, when this is over we will be enjoying our wonderful club together for our dinners, entertainment, our outside activities, and most importantly, the camaraderie we share. The Sun Lakes Master Board election will be April 14 at 9 am. Due to COVID, the Districts will not have representatives in the Ballroom counting the ballots as we usual do. Instead, the Inspector of Elections and their staff will be counting the ballots. You will be receiving your ballot shortly. Please send yours back no later than April 5. This is a very important election as our friends and neighbors will be deciding the future of our community. It is with a heavy heart that we tell you that our dear friend and neighbor, De Oravecz, has passed away. De was active in Social Singles since the beginning. She danced when the music started and didn't stop until the last note was played. She always had a smile on her face and a helping hand for those who needed one. She will truly be missed. Until we are back to laughing and hugging our friends, the most important thing we can do is to keep in touch. See what's going on with our friends with phone calls, by email, and by Facebook. The availability of the restaurant, pools and activities that we participate in change from week to week. For the most recent update you may go to Channel 97, Facebook's Good Day Sun Lakes, and also SLCC.com. These sources will give you the latest information as to what is happening in our community. Our thanks go out to our President, Joan Blumenfeld, for calling our membership to keep in touch and to put a smile on our faces. She will continue to do this until we can be together again. Hopefully by now you have received your vaccination. Stay happy and HEALTHY. We'll be together soon. If you know of anyone who is sick or needs cheering up, please contact Barbara Willens at (951) 769-0912 and she will send them a card.
