4 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2021 | Message from the GM By Christopher Mitchell, CPA, CMCA, CCAM Hope is on the horizon! With more people getting the vaccine and coronavirus cases declining we are on the path to moving from the purple tier to the red tier. This will allow more amenities to be open. We are all one step closer to getting back to normal day-to-day activities. Here are a couple of updates for the month of March. FOOD & BEVERAGE UPDATES: The Veranda will be reopening at the end of March. We will be preparing for the reopening of the restaurant once we reach the Red Tier level. Curbside and Delivery service will continue. Look for some menu updates and themed meal events. WORKING WITH CITY OF BANNING: Jason and I have been working with the city of Banning to seek placement of solar lights in the north east quadrant of the Executive Course near hole 5 and the Tee box on hole 6. This has been an area where we have had incursions. We have also asked the city to address the electrical boxes. Many of them have faded paint and need to be addressed. This is the city's responsibility, and we will be looking to assist them. More information to come. GOLF UPDATE: I would like to report that golf memberships have increased in 2021. Championship memberships increased 17 percent to 240 annuals, and the Exec memberships increased 18 percent to 59 annuals. The annuals purchased is close to the 2018 levels. INTERNAL REVIEW OF PERMANENT GUEST LIST AND GUEST LANE STICKERS (RFID): Onsite staff and Community Patrol performed an audit of the permanent guest list system. As a reminder, in 2017, the board passed a policy that permanent guest list cannot exceed five guests. As we reviewed the lists, and found variances, staff reached out to members to advise them and assist with bringing their permanent guest list into compliance. During the review we found roughly 10 percent of the members' guest lists did not comply. The RFID review focused on cars that may try to access the community through the guest lane, but the gate arm would not respond. During a four-day review, we found 10 vehicles had an issue with their RFID stickers. COMMUNICATIONS UPDATE: In partnership with the Communications Committee, staff will be developing a "Did you Know?" series. This will include interviews with staff, "how-to tips" for using amenities or systems and more. Look for this on Good Day Sun Lakes. Take care and stay safe.
