30 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2021 | Makua Hula Aloha! The ladies of Makua Hula are so happy that classes have again resumed. Makua Hula is the oldest Hawaiian Dance Group in Sun Lakes. Perla Williams, our instructor, has new dances for us to perform and we are looking forward to performing them at the Sun Lakes Follies Show "Sun Lakes Does Vegas" in the fall. Perla has been dancing since she was a child and teaching since she was a teenager. Perla educates the ladies in the proper Hawaiian methods of the dance — with her choreography, she "Perla-izes" it! There are many healthy reasons to give the hula a go… it builds lean muscle mass. The Hula uses nearly every muscle in the body for a full-body workout! It enhances coordination, gives the heart a workout, and builds strong bones. If you have been looking for a fresh new way to up your fitness level or lose a little weight, perhaps hula dancing is the perfect workout for you! Come give it a try; we are at the North Clubhouse on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12:30 pm and at the Main Clubhouse on Saturdays from 8 to 10 am. You can contact Olga Marquette (951) 846-3579 or Penny Skog (951) 533-9354. Back Row: Chelle Hyde, Sussy Arzubiaga, Kathy Reynolds, Saveth Herness Front Row: Penny Skog, Joan Lau, Perla Williams and Olga Marquette Not shown: Martie Steggell Fortnite Dance Have your kids, grandkids, or even great-grandkids gotten into playing the video game Fortnite? Now is the time to show them how "cool" you really are by learning the Fortnite dance moves. They won't believe their eyes when they see you doing the Floss, the Tidy, the Squatkick, the Hootenanny, the Worm, and the Wiggle, just to name a few. There is only one rule, you must dress in character. Since we aren't a sanctioned dance group, we have to meet in my garage, and probably when it's dark out. To sign up, email me at youshouldseemedotheworm@aol.com. ~ Worm O'Rama These are the dances we will be learning in May
