14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2021 | Sun Lakes Committee Reports We are happy to see more Advisory Committees submitting articles about the important work they are doing in Sun Lakes. Our goal is to have all active Advisory Committees share their news here each month. Thank you in advance for everyone's participation! Library Advisory All libraries are now currently open 8 am to 5 pm seven days a week! We are slowly purging books (except westerns and large print) published prior to 2011 to make room for books and puzzles donated by generous residents who purchased them while the libraries were closed. We do have a surplus of puzzles, so feel free to donate some to family or friends until we have available space for all on the North Clubhouse shelves. Our thanks go out to the Library Advisory Committee and shelving volunteers who helped organize the libraries prior to re-opening. The April volunteer luncheon was canceled, but we do anticipate showing our appreciation at the lunch on Oct. 5. Enjoy the warm weather and upcoming summer with a good book, such as the recently out and much anticipated WIN by Harlan Coben! We live in an amazing community! The amenities in this community far outweigh anything you might find in any other active adult community, anywhere around us. And one of these incredible amenities is your private restaurant. The Sun Lakes Restaurant is now open for your in-house dining pleasure, every day from 11 am to 7 pm. You may enjoy breakfast, salads, burgers, or a full meal, along with your favorite cocktail, beer or wine. We've all been locked down for so long – come celebrate your friendships in your private restaurant. You may also order any of these delicious meals to go and take it home to enjoy in front of your TV. Do you want to be a part of the decision making process? We are an advisory committee that partners with the Food and Beverage director and the Master Board to help with decisions about our restaurant, menus, specials, themes and other ideas that will make the restaurant and lounge fun and inviting. If you would like to be part of this team, pick up a Volunteer Interest Form in the Main Lobby, fill it out and drop it off at the Admin office. Share your great ideas and help our community thrive. Restaurant & Lounge Advisory The committee has received several complaints of new reports of running stop signs, especially at the Gate 5 area intersection. As more people are out and about, there is increased speeding on Country Club, Myrtle Beach, and Rolling Hills on the north side. We all need to be more responsible at stop signs and please slow down. We want to remind you to tell your guests to be sure and request an overnight pass when needed as the guard at the gate may not ask you. Please call me at (951) 769-8022 or email me at bbess94@outlook. com. if you have any questions. ~ Bill Bess Safety Advisory Master Architectural Usually reviewing painting permits comprise the highest number of action items on our agenda; however so far this year homeowners at Sun Lakes are dealing with fences and trees. Perhaps the wind is the culprit. Aging wooden fences and overgrown trees impact your property and need attention. When repairing fences or making repairs due to damage from trees be aware of Neighbor Awareness. Guidelines are listed in the ARCHITECTURAL STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES Article IV 4.3. When you submit your Home Improvement Application signatures of at least two neighbor owners within three units of your property is required. Their signatures signifies they are aware of what you are proposing. Contact the Planning and Compliance Department in the Administration Offices for answers to your questions. ~ David Marshall Kealy, Chairman
