12 | THE COLONY NEWS | MAY 2021 | COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE NEWS By Greg Hill Ah, spring! April showers bring May flowers, and hopefully April vaccines will have brought a May "return to new normal." We on the Communications Committee have been actively preparing for that new normal – a time we can all be together again in our Clubhouse. Rita Nastri and her Outreach to History subcommittee members are enthusiastically preparing for a time when we can begin recording the memories of our older residents and the early days in The Colony for this project. If you are one of these people, or if you recall interesting stories about early times in The Colony or know someone who does, please contact Rita so that we can begin looking into recording your memories before they are lost to the "dustbin of history." Scott Christiansen has been busy learning a new application for sound editing called Audition, which is part of our new Creative Cloud software package. Diane Frisbee and her Virtual Performance subcommittee members continue to explore ways to showcase all of our Colony exceptional talent. If you've ever dreamed of being behind the camera or part of the crew in many different ways, or even if you have no production-related skills at all, now is the time to step forward. We're about to begin a new page in the history of our community. LIBRARY By Janet Baasch We are so happy to welcome you back to the Library! As of this writing, there are limitations in place allowing four people, together with one Library volunteer, at a time. We want to take this opportunity to thank The Colony employees who did a great job of providing us with the outdoor library during this pandemic closure. You kept us occupied with books, puzzles, magazines, etc., making life much more pleasant. For those residents new to The Colony, the Library operates on the honor system. The books, picture puzzles, magazines and CDs are provided by resident donations. Rules are posted on the window wall of the Library. Please take only the number of books that you can read in a short period of time. We accept donations of the most current two months of magazines. Because of the large number of donated books received recently, we are only accepting books with a 2013 copyright and newer. If you have older books, we suggest you donate them to the Friends of the Library Bookstore located at 39445 Los Alamos Road. Again, welcome back!
