CLUB NEWS
By Marty Tighe, 304-9617
Karen Alonzo and her
husband, Leo, have lived in The
Colony for five years. Karen, who
was always an avid crafter, did
not plan to take up quilting until
she retired, but after one class
and the encouragement of other
quilters, she was hooked. Classes
at quilt retreats and conferences
and even a quilt cruise have
helped her expand her skills.
Karen not only pieces but also
does free motion quilting on her
projects with her domestic and
mid-arm machines. Like most
quilters, she has many projects
waiting to be completed.
These photos are samples
of the different kind of quilts:
appliqué, free motion quilting
and detailed piecing.
