The Doo Wop and Disco Dance Club Board met to discuss current conditions and prospects for 2021 club events. As of this writing OHCC is still restricted for gatherings; we are hopeful for changes in the next few months. Current plans have the Lanai area available this summer — perhaps June through September — with safety restrictions. We will review any and all information as it becomes available and will keep you informed. In the meantime, remember the words of a great songwriter: Let's think about living, Let's think about loving, Let's think about the whoopin' and hoppin' and boppin' and the lovie, lovie dovin' let's forget about the whinin' and the cryin' and the shooting and the dying and the fellow with a switchblade knife. Let's think about living let's think about life. The best part of life is whoopin' and hopin' and boppin' together soon. Village Line Dancers Line Dancing is moving to music with guided dance steps. It's great exercise for the body and brain! The music is Country Western, top 40s-through-the decades, Cha-Chas, Rumbas, and Waltzes. At right is a list of some of our favorite songs. We continue to work with OHCC management on how to safely meet for classes. Line dancing has always used physical distancing. Attention OHCC men and women, experienced or not in Line Dancing, one day we will be holding in-person classes; sign up now for the interest list. Email OHVillageLineDancers@gmail. com and request email alerts about when we will resume in-person classes. More information is on our website in the "Clubs" section at oceanhillscountryclub.com. | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2021 | 15 Village Squares New Beginnings Finally, it looks like there is some light at the end of the tunnel! Our county has moved into less restrictive times, and even the Clubhouse is beginning to open gradually. A good majority of our residents are fully vaccinated. So along with our beautiful spring weather, there is hope for reclaiming at least some of what we all enjoyed about Ocean Hills. Square Dance across the nation has been re-examining some of our practices. Groups in San Diego County have been meeting via Zoom with callers and boards of the clubs. Our Village Squares Board has been meeting also and connecting with other clubs. There has been a great deal of support for looking at Square Dance in a new way and with very different and simpler methods to get students dancing more quickly and with much less to learn. At a later date we will be explaining our new ideas. First, however, students will be asked to complete a questionnaire to get feedback from everyone. We are in the stages of devising this, so it will not be completed for a while but look forward to some exciting news in the future! Doo Wop and Disco Dance Club
