20 | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2021 | It finally feels like that our winter hibernation has made a break through. As we begin to open up the interior of the Clubhouse, we are all feeling like we have been napping the days away, and we are slowly beginning to emerge back into life. We are accommodating those who are making reservations through our online system and for those who are not able to do so, please call our Front Desk for assistance at (760) 758-8772. It is certainly possible with the state announcing the coming changes, we could see a quick turnaround in the way we secure space within the Clubhouse. We are requiring that everyone visiting the Clubhouse wear a mask. This is a good time to get registered on the website: oceanhillscountryclub.com, as it is the timeliest way of receiving pertinent new information. Our water exercise classes have started back and resident Leesa Singer had a full class on the first day. Her students were eager to begin and get back in the 84-degree water. Water Volleyball is currently played on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays 2 to 4 pm. The Locker Rooms remain closed at this time but the outside shower is available to use before and after swim time. The Community Services Committee will be reviewing the pool hours and the lap swimming times, as residents have asked for more lap swimming with lane line markers in place. The pool will be closed on Mondays from 10:30 am to 11:30 am for a weekly deep cleaning by our pool maintenance contractor. They will also spot clean throughout the week and the staff will drop a floor vacuum robot in to clean through the night. The pool furniture is also requiring a thorough spring cleaning after being stored on the Lanai pad for over a year. Plans are in place to erect a temporary canopy over the concrete pad beginning in June for a four-month period. "The Cleaning Company" is actively sanitizing the Clubhouse interior and as we progress, they will adjust their practices as more residents access the areas. The janitorial service continues to clean the Clubhouse and surrounding facilities in the wee hours of the morning. Clubhouse staff is anticipating that set-ups will begin, using the newly acquired EventPro reservation system through the Event Coordinator's office. After a week of training in April, Angie and Lisa are preparing to begin this process. With no actual event planning done in 2020, it will mean taking reservations until the end of 2021 and then into the year of 2022. But all of this is fluid and it has yet to be determined, so stay tuned! It has been nice to see people in the Clubhouse again. With masks required, it does take a few moments to recognize individuals. Food for thought: Does anyone feel their ears stick out more because of their face mask usage? Mine, sure do. At some point, headbands could again become popular as a way to train the ears to go back into place - lol (lol is an acronym of laugh out loud. It can be used as an interjection and a verb. Lol is one of the most common slang terms in electronic communications. Even though it means laugh out loud, lol is mostly used to indicate smiling or slight amusement). See you all in the Clubhouse very soon… we hope! Recreation News By Chris Bessey, Recreation Director FREE beginning/refresher ukulele lessons, eight week class, July and August. Time and place TBA.
