As we move through spring, our thoughts are turning to a time
when we will be back in our Clubhouse, enjoying gatherings of
friends, sharing their ideas and creative spirit. We look forward to
the free classes, the sharing of projects, and the planning for future
philanthropic efforts.
Our club has not been idle during the hiatus. I have shared
with you the work of holiday stockings and comfort quilts for the
children at Camp Pendleton. With the help of the Woodchucks, we
have also outfitted cradles with doll quilts for the toddlers who reside
there. The Y facilitates baby showers for expectant families at Camp
Pendleton, and we contribute to those events as well. We have also
been providing Tri-City Hospital with crocheted blankets and caps
for the preemies in their neonatal unit.
Our meetings are on the first Thursday of the month at 9:30 am on
Zoom, and the Zoom "chats" during the week have helped us keep in
touch during this year. Whether you sew, crochet, knit, quilt, or just
want to see what's going on with us, you are all welcome! If you are
interested in participating in our activities and are not sure who to
reach out to during this time, please call Chris Sanderson (858) 442-
1834, or MaryLu Belisle (952) 454-1931, for more information. Also,
please visit our website, lovingly updated by Terri Eckhardt, http://
ohccsewing.wixsite.com/ohccsewing.
All are welcome to join us. Dues (normally $7 per year) for all
2020 members are waived for 2021 due to the shelter in place orders
and our facility shutdown. We look forward to seeing you in person
when life gets back to normal, but meanwhile, we'll be Zoom-ing!
