24 | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2021 | Papercrafting Club Greetings fellow OHCC residents, Debbie from the Papercrafting Club here! May has arrived and we're that much closer to getting back full swing to the Clubhouse activities. (Hmmmm. Is this wishful thinking or reading the tea leaves correctly?) Our club's article this month focuses on Group 4, led by Sandy Miller. Group 4 has 10 members and has been papercrafting semi regularly during COVID, like many of the other groups, while our beloved Clubhouse, specifically the Art Room, has been off limits to residents. Established in 2019 and now in its third year, Group 4 is the second newest group in the club. Group 4 members, although not familiar enough with Zoom to use it for their meetings, still stay busy the old-fashioned way. Along with Sandy, another member, Young Hi Lee (the unofficial co-leader of the group), take turns making kits for the group which are worked on independently, at home, by the members. Completed projects are then shared by sending photos via email. They've been able to keep up with about two to three projects a month. Kudos must be given to Sandy, who stepped up to take on the group leader role when Jeannie Martinsen unfortunately had to resign the position last June to attend to other family commitments. In addition to Jeannie who is now in another group with a more convenient time slot, Group 4 has only lost one other member. Papercrafting owes both Sandy and Young a real debt of gratitude for being there for the Group 4 members! I must tell you from recent personal experience, it's not easy to make 10 kits up on a regular basis to keep a group together and actively involved! In addition to Sandy and Young, the other Group 4 members include: Catherine Andrusky, Jonnie Berry, Sunny Frowein, Heidi Kuhn, Joni Molloy, Linda Rios, Allison Stewart, and Nancy Trimino. The pictures you see here exhibit some of their beautiful work. There's obviously a lot of talent there! Like all of us in Papercrafting, Group 4 members are ready to get back to their regular Clubhouse meetings. Hopefully, you'll be able to find them there again soon on Wednesdays at 1 pm. In June, we will be highlighting the TOTE classes, their leaders, and projects past, present and future. A reminder that while we did not have a dues day this past January, anyone interested in joining the Papercrafting Club should contact club president Rhonda Anchiles, birdlady78@gmail.com or Karen Lohr, kalo24k@gmail. com, Membership Director, to get further information. Until next time, enjoy the month of May (it's Older American's Month!) and the special days within: Cinco de Mayo May 5, National Nurses Day May 6, Mother's Day May 9, Armed Forces Day May 15, and Memorial Day May 31 to name a few! Check out http://www.holidayinsights.com/ moreholidays/may.htm for other celebrations and listings of honor! And remember to make someone's day by sending them a card or two. Happy crafting!
