| OHCC LIVING | MAY 2021 | 29 Were still waiting for our clearance to be able to meet in person, but in the meantime everyone should be working on getting their vaccinations if you haven't already. Very few problems have been reported with Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, or Pfizer versions, and after you get through the waiting period, you will feel like you have superpowers. Well, at least you'll feel relieved. But you still need to be careful. Sadly, about one in three nationwide don't plan to take a vaccine at all, but informal polling on Next Door shows that OHCC is nearly unanimous on taking it. While we have no plans for a meeting, there will be a photo opportunity in May, where some of us have agreed to photograph the gardens for the Garden Clubs Spring Tour. The assumption is that the Garden Club tour itself will be restricted somewhat due to COVID, and it may be that gardens will be viewed by photo only. Of course, no one knows, as of this writing, what we will be allowed to do by mid-May. There's still time to volunteer to participate-the shoot is planned for May 12. In the meantime, have you taken a vaccine selfie? It's quite the rage these days. But, in reality, vaccine selfies are not a new thing. Enclosed is a photo of Elvis wincing as he receives the polio vaccine. The wince was probably fake, but he had good intentions. The polio vaccine was a very big deal. A few years ago the H1N1 virus was considered a potential pandemic, and President Obama made the effort to be vaccinated quite publicly. But in 2021, vaccine selfies are everywhere, but sometimes people take a selfie and you wonder if they were really eligible for it (meaning old enough). The Photo Club hopes to be able to meet soon, but it could well be sometime in autumn before we can do that. In the meantime, use the Club's Facebook page to share photos and to keep in touch.
