The Colony Chorus is anxious to begin again and hopefully have a concert ready for our community the second weekend in December. We invite all former Chorus members to come back, as well as Colony neighbors who haven't belonged before. And, to the new people who have moved here in the past year, you probably can't imagine how much fun we have together as a chorus, thanks to our lively and knowledgeable director! (If you don't sing, come and enjoy our Christmas and Spring concerts.) Join us! You don't have to audition; you just need to know how to carry a tune. Rehearsals take place on Thursday mornings, and we hope to begin September 9 to prepare for our Christmas/holiday concert in early December. Please sign up and join the fun. Joyce learned to sew as a child, but started quilting when she retired. Since then she has made quilts for her adult children and grandchildren as well as family members and friends. She prefers to make bed-size quilts, but also makes table runners, baby quilts and other small projects. She and I belong to a quilt group in Orange County, and she is also active in the Colony Quilters. Her "guest room" houses her fabric "stash" and a computerized sewing/embroidery machine, and she has a smaller version of it to take to quilt retreats. Joyce calls these quilts part of her "COVID Collection," because she was happy to have a hobby to keep her busy during the shutdown. Two of those shown are wedding gifts for events that were postponed, along with many other activities. We encourage anyone interested in learning to quilt or who already knows how to join our Colony Quilters once we can meet again! I know there are many talented quilters out there, and we would like to see your creations. Please contact me if you would like to have your quilts showcased for others to enjoy.
