| THE COLONY NEWS | JUNE 2021 | 27 CLUB NEWS By Sharon Smith How many of you have heard of the new Costa Vista RV park located near Chula Vista Marina and Bayside Park? No? Well, the Colony Roadrunners decided to kick off our 2021 official camping season by spending five days there, camped near the water in their brand-new facility. We numbered 25 total with 10 rigs (20 people) plus five glampers who joined us each day and evening. Our traditional first night potluck dinner was followed by a new craft project. These projects had to contain plastic cups following a beach theme. (See pictures of the six participating entries.) By day, some bicycled around the resort while others took a 17-mile ride around the marina and out to the ocean near Silverstrand State Beach. Other activities included taking walks, relaxing in the hot tub, geocaching, playing pickleball, bocce ball and horseshoes, or sitting around camp playing Yahtzee. Sound like fun? Ready to join us on our next trip? Nighttime was just as active. Rani and Scott Ross prepared margaritas for our traditional happy hour. The days were on the cool side and the nights were even cooler. With three fire pits, jackets and blankets, we were able to keep warm. But the best warmth came from the friendships we shared as we gathered together to act out charades (some of us were a little bolder than others), played left-right-center and shut the box, and sang all-time favorites. A few of the crazier people even danced to the songs while still seated! The sun finally came out on Thursday morning, but alas, it was time to depart for home. As always, we want to encourage you to join us on an upcoming trip: • Lake Tahoe from June 7 to 12, with a western theme, new activities plus some of our traditional ones. • Flying Flags RV Park in Buellton from Oct. 17 to 21.
