The weather is getting hot early this year, so let's hope it won't be a very hot summer. We congratulate our new Club Champion, Debbie Johnson. She and our previous club champ, Annette Lalicker, had a very good match. A lot of the participants came into the money, and Debbie received the Club Champ trophy (see picture at left). We were supposed to have our annual Member/Guest Invitational, but it has been put on hold due to the pandemic. We do think our Charity Tournament will be a go in October. In the meantime, some of our upcoming tournaments will be Beat the Club Champ, Short and Tall and Low Putts. Quite a few of our ladies play just nine holes and have different events each week as well, so think about coming out and joining us. We have a great group of women and lots of fun. If you are interested, you can contact our membership chair, Maureen Herzberg at 951-677-4717. We hope you have all gotten your vaccines and are keeping well and safe. We hope to see you on the links! Ladies Golf By Kathy Lewis, 412-0006 Pickleball has exploded at The Colony, as well as around the world! These players showed up on April 18 for our regular Sunday morning fun. We love to play every morning at The Colony, but Sundays are especially exciting, drawing about 30 players each Sunday. All three courts are rocking from 7:30 am until about 11 am, with all levels of continuous play. On Sunday, May 2, we held our second tournament. Twenty- four players in three divisions had hours of fun. The winners in each division were Colleen and Bruce Ray, mixed doubles, Susan Connelly and Dorothy Furrer, women's, and Shawn Furrer and Scott Ross, men's. Congratulations to all! Please contact me if you would like free beginner lessons. I want everyone to have as much fun as we're having! I hope to see you on the courts soon! Pickleball Congratulations and a big thank you to the 61 voters who participated in selecting the new officers of the Racquet Club. We are grateful for your support and confidence in our ability to serve all tennis, paddle tennis and pickleball players at The Colony.
