FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2021 41 Country Line Dancing Intermediate and Advanced classes have resumed for a review of dances from 2019 at the time of this writing. Masks and social distancing are required. Currently we can have a maximum of 130 people in the Ballroom. We are not teaching a very beginner class, but hope to in the near future. Available space and time for a class is at a premium right now. If you are interested in a very beginning class, please email or call to leave your name and contact information. When we know more we will contact you. Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 12 for our Country Line Dancing Party and More from 5 to 8:30 pm. Buy your dinner from the Kopper Kettle or bring your food and favorite beverages. We will have ice, glasses, and water available. What do we mean by "and more"? We will have some music from the other dance groups included in our playlists. This will be a very casual dance night. Occupancy is limited to the first 130 people due to COVID-19 restrictions. It would seem we are starting to get back to some of the past years' activities. Looking forward to the future, we have another dance party scheduled for July 24 with our very own DJs Elizabeth and Phillip Westbrook, and an outing to the Branding Iron on Aug. 12. Welcome to all of the new dancers as well. By the time you read this we will have had our first Barn Burner Dance since class resumed and our hope is that you had a great time. We look forward to the next one in the coming months. The class is used to teach you a variety of dances to a variety of songs so when you get in these live situations you are confident enough to participate and have fun and not feel like the kid on the sidelines! The LD (Line Dancing) 101 starts a brand new class on June 7. For anyone who has not danced and wants to try Line Dancing, this is the perfect time to jump in. I start with the basic steps and dances and we move our way up. For the Beginner/Intermediate class I am excited to bring some new dances and songs to keep pushing our minds and body to new music. As a reminder, classes are held on Mondays starting at 12:30 pm for the LD101 intro class and moves to a 1:30 to 2:30 pm Beginner/ Intermediate class. My philosophy is to have fun first, learn dances, listen to great music, and let your body move to the music! Everyone is welcome to come out and try something new. For newcomers and beginners, the Swing is one of the most enjoyable and easiest dances anyone can learn. It has simple footwork that repeats itself while you learn different ways to turn and dance with your partner to almost any fast music. It is easily one of the most diverse dances to learn because you can dance it to so many kinds of music — jazz, country, 50s, and current-day music. For many of us, it is a flashback to our teens when rock and roll ruled. Intermediate and advanced dancers will be learning the West Coast Swing, which is also known as the Lindy or Jitterbug. Both partners are doing different steps yet still dancing together. For any new resident, it is important to know our dance group is just regular folks having fun. We move to the music and dance like no one is watching. It's more than just dancing… it's friendship accomplishment, learning, social support, exercise for our bodies and minds, and above all – great fun! Plan to join us in the Ballroom on Monday nights… you will be glad you did! From 6 to 7 pm we welcome newcomers and beginners. From 7 to 8 pm is intermediate and advanced. Cost is $10 per person with our amazing professional instructors.
