FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2021 51 After more than a year of COVID-19 delays, the paddle club finally got the opportunity to organize a paddle tournament. Tournament day, May 1, was a beautiful, slightly overcast day with the temperature in the low 80s. We had a good turnout and for the first time played a round-robin tournament. The winners walked away with gift certificates from In N' Out Burgers and a perpetual trophy. The tournament play was brisk and competitive and we played a total of three games per match. As there were several ties for second place, we had a lob off to determine who would play in the final. After the dust settled, the final was between the team of Richard Carrasco and Jeromee Liebenberg and the team of Perry White and Alan Chan. Due to time constraints the winner was determined by the first to win three games. The team of Richard/Jeromee blasted off by winning easily 2-0 and when all seemed lost, the Perry/Alan team fought back to catch up and even the score at 2-2. In a nail-biting finish the Perry/Alan team managed to clinch the third and deciding game. Congratulations to the winning team and also the second place team. After the tournament some of the players got together for dinner at the Kopper Kettle Bistro. It was a nice way to end a fun day. We want to thank everyone for helping organize the tournament, especially to Stan for making the scoring chart, Paco for taking care of the cold bottled water, and Niles Sundstrom for being our scorekeeper. Our summer play times are 5 pm to 6 pm everyday except Thursdays. For more info, please call Alan Chan at (310) 251-9269 or Alex Castano at (909) 746-7529. ~ Alan Chan Paddle Tennis Winners Perry and Alan Richard & Jeromee and Perry & Alan thank one another for a good game Participants in May's Round-Robin Tournament
