14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2021 | From the Recreation Director By Elise Campbell What a difference a year makes! This time last year, while I was working on inputting the room reservations for clubs and groups, our clubhouses were eerily quiet with only the sound of the clock ticking and a phone call here. Now, as I'm writing this, the clubhouses are buzzing with activity. Stardust Dancers are meeting and rehearsing, members are walking in to enjoy lunch in the Restaurant, and laughter is coming from the Billiards Room. It's great to be back! Comedy Night... Live & In Person! Wed., June 30, Main Clubhouse Ballroom at 4:30 pm. Doors open at 4 pm. $15 pp – space is limited. Come and enjoy an afternoon out for our return to live and in-person entertainment! Comedians featuring Jason Love, Jim McDonald, Gali Kroup and Omar Covarrubias will be sure to make you laugh until you drop. Seating for this event will be on a first-come, first-served basis and limited occupancy due to COVID-19 guidelines so be sure to sign-up early. Tickets are on sale now for $15 pp (checks only-payable to SLCC, limited to four people per check). Masks will be required. Sign up at the Recreation Department Front Desk during normal business hours. For info, please call (951) 845-2191. Please note: All Recreation events and activities are subject to change based on the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols set by the state and county of Riverside. The Recreation Department and the Recreation Advisory Committee are excited to announce that our Annual Fourth of July Golf Cart & Classic Car Parade will be taking place this year. Please keep in mind that all events will be determined on what tier we are in and what the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols are throughout Riverside County at the time of the event. To enter as a cart, float, or classic car parade participant, pick up an application at the Recreation Department Front Desk during normal business hours or request an application by emailing Elise Campbell at elise.campbell@fsresidential.com. The theme for this year's celebration is "United We Stand." We will be awarding the winners with a ribbon and gift certificate to the restaurant for six winners along with a special Most Creative Award that we will be calling the "Bill Mock Award" in honor of Bill Mock.
