As a writer you like to make up stuff. Even if you write truth in
the form of non-fiction, you are using words that someone had made
up. These words didn't come from some guy sitting around naming
things. This took thousands of years. We don't have time for this so
we tend to use these old words, which we can find in a big book or on
the computer in what is called "a program." It is fascinating to realize
that a million years ago the only way to communicate was through
grunting. A guy, presumably a man, picked up a piece of stone and
said, "Rock!" Then he threw it at another guy who was about to hit a
woman with what he called, a "club." This was filed mentally as the
word jealousy but could not be expressed for several thousand more
years. So today, as thanks to all that have gone before us, we write.
Writers in the Sun Lakes Creative Writers jot down everything from
personal memoirs to fantasy fiction and even poetry. Meetings are
held in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room on the first Monday
and third Wednesday of each month at 3 (the three in the afternoon).
Bring up to five pages of your writing to read to the group. Expect
gentle critiques or congratulations on a job well done. You won't need
a coupon since there are no dues or entrance fees. Because of the
virus and clubhouse rules, you may be scheduled for either day. This
would also include newcomers. Please check with Roger Smith at
(951) 769-2808. Call for COVID-compliant meeting requirements.
