Sun Lakers at Canyon Lanes We have started our summer league and I see many happy faces. It is so great for these bowlers to get back on the lanes. We really missed the socializing and, of course, the competition. We have 20 teams for the Monday league and we have room for four more teams. If you are interested in bowling with us, please call Teri at (760) 217- 9656. If you are a current bowler, remember to wear your mask while in the common area. It is too early to post any scores. Hope everyone has a great season. "Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards." ~ Soren Kierkegaard There is no activity while the facilities are closed, but when they reopen… Do you enjoy playing the billiard game of 8 Ball? If you do, come join us. All Sun Lakes residents are welcome to practice with us Mondays through Saturdays. We normally draw for partners at noon, then play to around 2 pm. There is no cost to join our group. However, if you elect to join a team, there is a $15 competition fee per three-month season. Eight teams compete every Thursday; four at 9 am and the other four at 1 pm in our Main Clubhouse Billiards Room. For a fun afternoon of friendly competition, come watch us play. For more information, please contact Tom Hyatt at (909) 908-7533 or email THYATTREALTY@ gmail.com. 52 52 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2021 | | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2021 | Sun Lakers & Friends Our Tuesday League came to an exciting end on March 30. Many thanks to the staff and management of Canyon Lanes at Morongo. Their diligent efforts enabled us to bowl in a safe and comfortable environment. Thank you all for cooperating with the rules. Because Canyon Lanes was the only bowling alley in the area, we were joined by many new bowlers. People came from as far away as Long Beach and Temecula to bowl. All in all it was a very competitive season. Our own Sun Lakes team, Spare Parts (Carol & Larry Ellis, Sally Flesher and Sandy Hepburn) took first place, edging out team Slow Motion (Steve Martin, Tom Collins, Teresa Antinucci and Stoney Baker) by 1/2 game. Congratulations! Here are the final High Scores for Season 2020-2021: Team Season Highs: Scratch Series (2550) Team 8, True Amateurs (Pete Armendariz, Cindy Johnson, Monty Baswell and James Hinshaw). Men's Season Highs: Scratch Series (757) Pete Armandariz Scratch Game (289) Steve Martin Handicap Series: (818) George Thiel. Handicap Game (318) Frank Burkett.
