| OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2021 | 25
We have had a busy month! During the year, the Sewing Club
receives many donations of yarn and fabric, notions and supplies.
Due to the pandemic, those donations were not able to be dispersed
as they usually are, so when the "Arts & Crafts Faire" came around, we
decided to have a big, BIG giveaway!
Asking only for donations, we received almost $600 from our
residents, and were able to pass those dollars along to the family
of Fernando Cruz, an Ocean Hills Country Club employee who is
battling a life-threatening illness. Every penny donated that Saturday
went to his young family. We hope it helps!
As usual, our members continue to make blankets and hats
for the NICU at Tri-Cities Hospital, and "Comfort Quilts" for the
children of deployed service men and women, and holiday stockings
and blankets for the children of Camp Pendleton and San Pasqual
Academy.
We are excited to say that our Club meeting (held the first Thursday
of the month at 9:30 am), will be live and in person this month in
the Abravanel Hall… it has been a long time, and we are cautiously
optimistic that the pandemic numbers will continue to improve, so
that our free workshops can resume soon. We have so many exciting
projects that we would like to share!
We have also started meeting again in person to "Sew & Chat" on
Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm and on Fridays from 12 pm until 3
pm in the Sewing Club Room. Whether you sew, crochet, knit, quilt,
or just want to see what is going on with us, you are all welcome!
If you are interested in participating in our activities and are
not sure who to reach out to during this time, please call Chris
Sanderson (858) 442-1834, or MaryLu Belisle (952) 454-1931 for
more information. Also, please visit our website, lovingly updated by
Terri Eckhardt, http://ohccsewing.wixsite.com/ohccsewing.
All are welcome to join us. Dues (normally $7 per year) for all
2020 members are waived for 2021, due to the facility shutdown. We
look forward to seeing you.
