The Ocean Hills Anglers and guests went on the
second fishing trip of the year on April 21, with
12 Ocean Hills Anglers members and two guests.
Weather forecast was for drizzle and possible showers,
but we did not see any, just a little chilly. We again headed to the
Coronado Islands as it was the best opportunity to catch quality fish.
Once at the Islands, we searched for schools of yellowtail, etc. for a
few hours, but they were not biting. We ended up heading closer to
the South Island and all anglers on the trip caught a variety of fish.
While the reported number of fish was eight each Sand Bass, three
each Barracuda, 70 each Calico Bass and 32 each Whitefish, there
were many more caught and released. While no one hooked up any
Yellowtail, the Jackpot fish ended up being a 3.5 lb Sand Bass, caught
by new Ocean Hills Anglers member Karl Anderson. Everyone on the
trip had a good time, and it was great to get out on the water and just
hang out with fellow Ocean Hills Anglers members.
