Long live the music of our youth! The 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. The Doo Wop and Disco Club is trying to start back with dance parties that members feel comfortable with. We are awaiting news and official guidelines as to how we can gather in June. As of this writing, we do not have enough information, but we will send out an email blast to Doo Wop Club members when we have some specifics and put it on our website. If you are not getting a regular email from us, you most likely are not on our membership roster. To fix that, print out a membership form on our website and drop it by the Clubhouse with a check for membership. It is just $10 a year. Our website is OceanHillsCountryClub.com. Log in; click on "Social Clubs," then "Doo Wop & Disco." In most cases we will need a few weeks prior to the event to hire the music and secure the availability of the Hall or the Lanai and sell tickets. All these need lead time to put into action. Stay tuned- in for updates. Meanwhile, don't wait for a party to keep Rockin' and Rollin'. Dust off those CD's, tell Alexa or your "Hey, Google" speaker to play your favorite artist or band's music, log onto the Pandora.com, or check out Cox channel 930 "Solid Gold Oldies" on your TV… yes, our Cox Cable has Solid Gold Oldies! Rest assured that we are thinking hard about how our club can share the love of music while we take precautions. Village Line Dancers Line Dancing is great exercise for the body AND BRAIN! It is moving to music with guided dance steps. The music is Country Western, top 40s-through-the decades, Cha-Chas, Rumbas and Waltzes. The Line Dancing Club can meet again for in-person instruction one day soon, getting us moving and having fun. That is what it is all about! We continue to work with OHCC management on how to meet safely for classes. Line dancing has always used physical distancing. Attention: OHCC men and women, experienced or not in line dancing. Sign up now for the interest list. E-mail OHVillageLineDancers@gmail.com and request email alerts about when we will resume in-person classes. More information is on our web site in the "Clubs" section at OceanHillsCountryClub.com. Once we resume in-person classes, if you want to try it out before joining, you can participate in two classes, $5 each payable at every drop-in class you care to attend before joining the club (dues are $10/year.) If you decide to join, you may drop off your membership check (for $10 for this calendar year) at the front desk. You can either download our membership form from our website or make sure to include your email address and phone number with your check made payable to Village Line Dancers. As of writing, we still must wear a mask in the Clubhouse. There will still be three levels of line dancing, but they have been renamed to be more accurate. There is no longer an "advanced" class. We have beginner, improver, and intermediate classes. Not only our club, but others, are hopeful that in June we can get back to holding our classes in Abravanel Hall. No promises, just hopeful. Our class schedule will remain the same as it has always been. • Monday, Improver class at 12:30 pm (formerly called "Intermediate") • Tuesday, Intermediate class at 10:30 am (formerly called "Advanced") • Thursday Beginner class at 2:30 pm. | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2021 | 15 Doo Wop and Disco Dance Club
